Lived in Miami Beach for 12 years and have seen a lot of fabulous salon chairs, owners, and stylists—this place blows them out of the water.
TBH, this place can do it all but turn water into wine.
After an impromptu “self haircut” a few weeks ago in which I cut about 8 inches of hair off myself, it was time to find a salon that could manage to work with the (very) short hair left without shaving it.
They took the time to precisely trim, cut, shape, style, all around my head.
They managed to even it out while keeping the bulk of my hair on my head somehow so I could appear professionally for my job. I now have a bit of a parisean chic short do and it is perfect for my face shape and personal style.
You can tell the owner is a true expert who honors his craft and the stylist cutting my hair put my experience above any egos to learn more about how to cut my particular hair. The salon seems to cater more to ultra short cuts, gentleman’s cuts, and other quick styles. So it made sense my stylist wasn’t as experienced with high density Latina blow outs lol, but I was impressed that instead of trying to do it himself and risk an unpleasant experience, he went ahead and asked the owner to show him the technique. He wasn’t a student in the salon by any means, so he could have just done it all and I would never have known otherwise—10/10 for really placing your client #1 and giving me the best chance to walk out happy.
My stylist also cut my partner’s hair expertly, exactly what was asked for and then some. Bf was worried about losing the fullness, but the stylist made the top and crown spot look even fuller than when he first walked in. Every single person I saw in the salon during my nearly two hour visit left looking eye-catchingly good.
I am absolutely thrilled with our experiences here and will be returning. Cuts are $60 and worth every penny. You might be able to get a great cut for less, but you will not find one that tailors the cut perfectly for...
Read moreHi readers, the perfect day to write a review/testimonial, (Labor Day 2021) of Parlor on Fifth and, in my opinion, it's star barber.....Mr. Leo Tang. I followed Leo from Brightside Barbers' in Hillcrest, next to Ralphs Grocery Store, to Parlor on Fifth. Leo is the very best barber, by far, and is so remarkable in his talents in addition to being very accommodating and extremely nice. It is best to call "Parlor" ahead of time in order to secure a reservation with Leo as opposed to "walking in". The shop is so easy to find, cross is Quince. all the barbers are extremely pleasant and welcoming. Additionally, the shop is scrupulously tidy and clean. All my appointments with Leo have always been on time and each time that I have left after my haircut I always feel amazed with the work done by Leo. You will not be disappointed!!! Folks, just get there and experience the superlative talents of Leo Tang. With so many thanks to...
Read moreI absolutely love Parlor on Fifth!
The shop has such a great atmosphere and vibe, and you feel welcomed the moment you step inside. The owner, Mattie, has done such a great job with the shop. He's also a great barber - super awesome, talented, and always gives me an amazing cut/fresh fade. Two very enthusiastic thumbs-up for, what is always, a great experience!
I did want to mention how clean the shop is as well in addition to the many steps taken to make the patrons feel safe with the current restrictions in place. Thank you so much for taking this into account and making the shop feel so comfortable!
