I'll start with the good, cause I'm not above calling out where people have done things right: When I went in for my appointment everyone was very nice and the salon has chill vibes in a cool location. 5 stars for how kind Oliver was to me throughout this whole thing, which was so appreciated as I was on the edge of tears. The stylist worked fast on my hair which can be hard to do with my type of hair, so that was appreciated too.
0 stars for royally messing up my hair and customer service, both of which have been extremely upsetting and disappointing.
ALL I WANTED WAS TO BLEND MY ROOTS WITH MY BLONDE AND I CAME OUT FULL BRUNETTE. I came in with bright blonde hair and about 2" of dark roots, asking for her to blend the roots + blonde to create a gradation between the two and get rid of the harsh grow-out line. We had a consultation and she mentioned shadow roots and I said yes, that, and she asked if I wanted to tone down the blonde and I said no I liked how bright it was. Came in the following week for my appointment and we recapped what we were doing and she foiled and bleached my roots and did some smudging at my roots (all normal-seeming) and then took me to the bowl to tone and wash, and I came back out COMPLETELY MEDIUM-BROWN ALL OVER. I asked her what happened and that I thought we were just doing a shadow root and getting rid of the line and keeping all the coloring to the very top of my head, and she defended that this was the only way to get rid of the root line was to do an all-over tone. This was NEVER discussed before the treatment and had it of been, I would have told her (again) I wanted to keep the all-over blonde. I was so shocked and trying to hold back tears so I paid (wish I wouldn't have) and left since I was about to burst into tears. I then called them back and told them it was completely wrong and asked them to fix it - She never showed me any color swatches, never discussed that she had to blend my entire head brown, never got my consent to completely change my entire hair color. If you have thick long dark hair, you know the investment of time and money it takes to go blonde and I was 100% not willing or wanting to lose that but was given no choice here.
They scheduled me for an 'adjustment appointment' for a bleach wash to "lighten it" but I said I needed them to take me back to the blonde that I was, and now that I was a medium-brown I don't think a bleach wash would be enough, so they scheduled me for a balayage the following week. But then the owner of the salon called me and asked what happened and I explained to him that I have put about 25 hours and around $1k into going blonde just this year alone, and that a color change was never discussed and I need them to fix it. He said he'd offer me a refund but wouldn't schedule me another appointment to fix it because "some people just can't be pleased and everyone at the salon said your hair looked beautiful when you left." I told him he wasn't even giving me the chance to be pleased with their services cause he was now refusing to fix it, and also it doesn't matter if what she did looks good because it's completely wrong and was done without my consent. He replied that "mistakes happen sometimes and I don't think she made a mistake, but you can't please everyone and if you come back into my salon we won't be able to get you back to that blonde so it'll just be a waste of everybody's time, I don't know what you want me to do." I told him I just wanted him to take me blonde again and make it right by fixing my hair and taking me back to where I was and he refused to schedule another appointment for me or fix it.
I received a full refund (which he spoke of as if it were a gift to me "other salons wouldn't even offer you a refund so this is more than fair") and I'm left with hair I 100% did not ask for, and they're left with their inability to accept responsibility and terrible customer service, so it's a lose/lose for everyone.

Read moreFirst time here. After reading online reviews and scouring their website, I called to request their hours (not listed on their site). The receptionist was knowledgeable and helpful, and I was able to get an appointment a Sunday!! The piece was quoted, too - very helpful, as their hair stylists have different price ranges. My appointment began promptly with Andrea. The space is open, modern, clean, and beautiful in a very old building. (Modern and old...I know. But it is.) Andrea was professional and spoke with me until we both knew exactly what my cut would be - I needed feedback, and she made certain she understood what look I wanted. The shampoo set up was comfortable (an ottoman for legs - not every salon has that and it was perfect for my back), she verified the water was a good temp, and the head massage was delightful. We chatted throughout the cut, with her checking in every so often to ensure my comfort and explain what she was doing. Also, the chat was calm - her vibe was relaxed and professional, which I appreciated. The blow dry was pain-free, I was able to see the process, and it is easily done at home. The cut was so good even my picky teenagers admired it (we have taught them to always be honest...maybe a mistake when it comes to my appearance!). I set my next...
Read moreMarisol is a visionary with an outstanding work ethic. My regular colorist canceled at the last minute just before the Christmas holiday and just before I left on vacation for my birthday. Every colorist I called was booked and I was going to look pretty bad if I could not get my hair colored and highlighted. My hairstylist, who recently won an award in a national competition for being the best hairstylist, knew I was in a jam and told me about Marisol. I completely trust him so he called her. She heard what happened to me and fit me in by staying late. It was not a small job. I've had recently gone blonde with low lights as well as subtle platinum highlights and dark roots (foil, painting, etc.) To make it look great would be too much for the majority of colorists. Marisol is not your average colorist. Marisol is a perfectionist and I have reaped the benefit of her skill and talent. I have never received so many compliments. She is also fun and fabulous to deal with. What was also amazing is she charged me her regular reasonable rate. I've been seeing her since last December and could not be more happy. As for the front desk at Salon on 30th they are also excellent. They are always pleasant, professional and they don't keep...
