not sure what it will take for this dude to understand how much money he’s losing by not letting people browse and discover. why even pay the rent?
Update: I have no way of responding to the owner’s response to this review, so updating mine. I could not agree more about the crime in SF. Thieves should be prosecuted and jailed. My home has been compromised in the Richmond. I would argue that opening doors is a risk a business owner should consider taking because most others have and the opportunity cost is high to turn away business. It leads to a slow death.
As an old timer comic fan who is not up on what’s new, I rely on the recommendations of owners and patrons. Unfortunately I can’t get that at your shop so I have to go elsewhere to have a real conversation to explore interests and make a purchase.
I loved your shop. Now it’s not a shop. I understand the why. But I know there’s a market that is turned away. One can’t expect that every potential patron is going to call you and ask why you’re closed to the public in all but name.
And it’s a shame that you have to deal with crime. But it’s human to make assumptions. It’s not a good customer experience to walk up to a store that is a not a store but a door.
At some point you will need to reopen to keep the store alive, even with risks. I wish you the best. Bumped my rating to a 3...
Read moreSurprised at how rude this place is. They use the word "child" in a condescending way to try and put younger people down. I was trying to find a gift for someone as well as fill in my runs. I gave them a very clear list. They spent about half an hour back looking for them, stating multiple times that I was "wasting their time." Then they showed me a collection they had recently purchased. It was a stack of silver age Captain America's with no bags or boards.Their prices, (as I stated) were very overpriced. I also explained to them how I was not looking for key issues becuase I was not looking to spend a lot of money. They did not listen. I was holding the book correctly - They claimed I was bending it. If your worried about the condition then put the comics in a bag and board. I think that it's just a level of disrespect that is the most surprising. It's not even the comics. They overgrade/overprice their comics, and make you feel bad if you point them out on this. Note to Cards and Comics Central: Next time treat your customers right if you want them to have a...
Read moreIf you're into collectible card games, comics or other pop culture items, this is the place for you. But be prepared by saving up a lot of money, because there is a very wide selection of items to choose from. For my particular situation, they had an expensive item I wanted to buy in storage. The item was not on display, but I was eventually able to buy the expensive item. The place may seem cramped on the inside, but the customer support by the store staff is helpful and excellent. The only drawback is that from the outside, a person can't tell it is a comic and collectibles store unless he or she knows what they are looking for and actually looks at the window displays(there is a lit-up Cards and Comics Central store sign and various pop culture items on visual display). The store's exterior is very nondescript. But once you enter inside, you will have an experience...
