Happy 4th of July. Normally we don't eat AYCEhotpot in SF (mostly because the price). But it was holiday so why not. Many other hotpots in town were closed so we'd like to try this. It was around noon, we didn't have to wait and were seated immediatly. The servers were very nice and fast. We could chose up to 4 soups. You can order as many as you can (as long as you can finish them), no limit to 5 dishes per 10 mins or 1 call. There is a small sauce bar with some nice recipes there. Food is quite nice, and I really like the beer beef. Some dishes that I really like in other places aren't here, but they have enough good food for you to try. The only thing that make me confused was when we sat down, the server said $28.99 for AYCE. Later she told other customers $35.99. In the end we were charged 35.99 each too. I guess that was holiday's price but she should have told us from the beginning.
Overall, I like the idea of 4 soup bases. You don't have ro refill broth so the flavor stays the same. Service is fast, environment is fresh and friendly. The price is just similar to others in SF. I Might come back but if I have a chance I either would try other new AYCE in the city or just go to other cities in The Bay Area for...
Read moreIt's only OK. I came thinking that I would be WOW'd, but in all honestly, this place lacks the variety of of other places. We sat in the back on a Wednesday late evening, and found the service to be lacking. The condiment bar was also sad. They ran out of garlic and cilantro. I noticed that there were no peppers either. The worst part of the condiment bar is that the satay sauce had no satay. It was all oil.
This might be considered good for the Richmond district for the folks that always come here. But I feel that most places in the Sunset is better than this place.
I was highly disappointed when we ordered things like fish ball, lobster ball, and quail eggs of that sort. First time around, they only gave us 2 quail eggs for 2 people. The order of Lobster Ball and Fish Ball were cut in half. So literally we got 1 lobster ball and 1 fish ball that were cut in half for the party of 2. I think this was a way so they that can fit everything on one plate.
BTW, what's with all the nasty menus? All the ones we used were greasy, falling apart, and...
Read moreWe go to Boiling Hot Pot atleast 1x/month. It’s our go to spot for almost every occasion whether happy or sad. 😂 We went here for my wife’s graduation and for when I had a bad day and needed a venting session.
We almost always get mango soju. My mother-in-law and I always drink unfiltered Sake when we all got together. It’s like a family tradition now.
We usually pick out 4 favorite soup bases (Tom Yum, Red Pepper, Green Pepper, and Tomato). We LOVE their sauce station! It’s so customizable but my favorite is their first recommendation. My wife loves their green sauce and their mushroom sauce with spicy chili garlic.
We always order a bunch of vegetables and wagyu beef. We always leave super stuffed and so satisfied. Unfortunately the only downside is the time limit of 90 mins which leaves you feeling rushed. I will say that the restaurant really only enforces the time limit when there is a large wait. Otherwise they are very nice and flexible.
Would definitely recommend for any occasion. We’re probably going to...
