Pier 15 is sooo much better than say, pier pier 16, it's like night and day. I know this because I've been to both of them. Be warned though, in San Francisco we like to number our piers a little differently, not in the standardized way of 1,2,3, and so on. But rather in order of likability beginning at the big Red Bridge and working your way south. For example pier 15 is awesome pier 39 is by way of its lower ranking, terrible. Now, enjoy San Francisco and don't pay attention to Google Maps and you'll have a great time. Read moreThis Pier mostly houses the Exploratorium. Outside of the Explo on the south apron there is a bike/pedestrian path that is pleasant (and has a few things from the museum on display). This wraps around to the north where you can see and hear an aeolian harp and then cross over the Pier 17. The north apron is mostly paid admission area with many outdoor exhibits. The Exploratorium is my favourite science museum! Very hands on, tons of exhibits packed into its ever evolving halls. Read moreIt's incredibly cool. Simple, everyday actions that we don't notice in everyday life and don't always understand what's happening, why and how. Here, having found yourself in this world of "I want to know everything", you really understand how everything works. To say that it was interesting is to say nothing. Staying here gave a lot of impressions and new discoveries, and there's nothing to say about the children. My grandchildren, 9 and 16 years old, had a wonderful and useful time. I think we'll come back again, because we just didn't have time to see everything....
