Went after Fireworks New Years Eve with friends that had stopped through SF to see us on their way to Utah. We went there to wait the traffic out. It was great at first. Very nice fun atmosphere.
Around 12:30 my husband and I decided to try one of their mixed drinks off the menu. The bartender told him it was too close to closing time and he wasn’t mixing anymore drinks. I could understand if we had been drinking all night I guess but we had just had our first beer. It was really bewildering. Especially when we saw the bartenders mix drink after drink after that for others. We blew it off and stuck to our beer.
They yelled last call at 1:15. We got a half round of beer and split it. 10 minutes later, a bartender started going around kicking everyone out!! He came to our table and said with a smug grin “you folks need to get out”. I said but your closing time says 2?! He said: “You have to get out”. We were so disappointed. To make it worse he went over and spoke to another table and allowed them to stay. Same with a few other tables.
This is not a nice way to treat new customers obviously. Very...
Read moreOf all the places in SF, THIS is the place that actually redeems the entire city! I walked in, first time, these guys were EXTREMELY gracious, very friendly. They handed me a menu, let me take any seat in the place, and were VERY communicative with how they planned out the timing of the food, and when it was coming out. And even when it came out sooner than expected, that was not a problem. The atmosphere is pretty dark, but fitting! Hard to imagine this was an abandoned vessel named the Arkansas.
Been to other places in the city, and they either upcharged claiming inflation was a reason, even though we're all facing it, or they pulled all sorts of tactics to get you to tip more. This place is honest with their prices, and genuine in their attitudes towards you. I had a rough couple days here, but being here for one meal made it all...
Read moreWas there in Dec '24 and was just looking for some beer, little did I know that I would find pure gold. The beer selection has something for everyone, walking through every one on draft was a great experience. Having the burger to get a solid foundation was awesome, I rarely had such delicious, honest food. Had to come back the next day to try more food, had the loaded fries and was not dissapointed either. It's a great place to drop by for a pint or to stay with your friends for the night. The only thing you have to get used to is that because of the tilt of the house it feels like you are in an evil lair out of the old Batman series. Next time I'm in town I'll be back. Thank you for...
