I was trying to find an affordable hotel that was safe AND clean. After a few days of searching, comparing and reading what felt like every review under the sun my search ended with CQ. I found a great deal for the suite room with a kitchenette and sofa bed and booked for a few days. Overall, CQ checked every single box that I was looking for. It’s tucked in a nice corner of the financial district so the sidewalks were really well kept and clean. I saw maybe 2 homeless people outside the hotel during my entire stay and they were just passing nearby. Even walking back from the bars at 2 am there were none in sight. Chinatown is a 10 minute walk, just a couple blocks over and if you walk 10-15 mins in the other direction you’ll find yourself at the piers. If you’re driving there is NO ON SITE PARKING but the garage is super close and within 100 feet from the hotel. It’s also the cheapest 24hr parking that I could find in SF ($37/24 hr) but extremely safe! I left my car there for my entire trip and didn’t even check on it once and it was perfectly fine. The bed was really comfortable and the sheets smelled like they were brand new. I’m not sure if these rooms were recently renovated but it felt like it. My room was on the top floor and from my window I could see that they had a small sun deck area for guests which I imagine would be a nice spot to watch the sunset. On the first floor past the elevators is a lobby that offers some seating and a small coffee bar. It was nice but felt like a library - grand and boring. So I only went down there once to check it out. When I first arrived at the hotel they mentioned that they had a happy hour with free unlimited wine as long as you showed your room key but I don’t drink wine so I’m not sure if that was offered in the lobby or the attached restaurant Fish & Farm. I only went to the restaurant once for breakfast and got the eggs Benedict. Definitely recommend searching the city for good eats but if you’re going to take advantage of the room service CQ offers then it’ll be coming straight from the restaurant. On the lower level you’ll find the ice machine and vending machines. The only annoying part of my entire stay at this hotel was when I used the vending machine with my card and it held $16 for a $2 item which obviously the hotel isn’t directly responsible for. There is a gym down on the lower level as well, pretty small but they have a good little set up. There’s also water dispensing stations on certain floors where you get a water bottle for free, the water isn’t really cold but it’s filtered and unlimited so I thought that was pretty cool. I love that they had kiosks for super quick check in and check out. I can definitely say I’ll be back...
Read moreWe stayed here for four nights before heading off to the airport via the nearby BART station, and were really pleased how clean, comfortable and well located it was. All the staff in the lobby were very friendly. We were up on the 7th floor above the street but were rarely bothered by noise, and could see boats on the little bit of water visible between the high rise buildings. There's an iron and ironing board, fridge, microwave, hairdryer, toiletries (which are free unless you take the big bottles away at the end), chair, and plenty of room for suitcases. Our room smelled nice. Along the corridor were good quality water bottles and a machine to fill them. Downstairs was a comfortable room where people relaxed and played card or board games, or just popped in to make a drink at the free drinks station. Apparently a few years ago there were fruit and snack bowls too which are long gone, but there is a decent range of hot drinks on offer including tea suitable for English tastes. When we arrived one of the bedside lamps in our room wasn't working but we forgot to report it; we came back the next evening to discover our room had been beautifully cleaned and tidied AND the lamp was now working! I didn't get time to try the free wine tasting next door at 5-6. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Ferry Terminal, great for food and views, and where we took the ferry to Sausalito one day (we decided to come back by bus, which goes over the Golden Gate Bridge). Chinatown is also an easy walk, with a good range of restaurants on offer. We bought bus passes for 5 dollars a day and got across to Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf, Castro, Coight, the Little Italy area, and Mission, without ever having to get a taxi. The BART to the airport was 10.55 dollars - ignore what Google says about it being 9.50 or like us you'll pay 10 then have to top up another 3 - but it's a long distance so even buying two BART tickets is way cheaper than getting a taxi. The BART takes you into the airport. Years ago I was horrified by levels of homelessness in the US, but now it's on a similar scale in most UK cities. And unlike the UK where you'll be pestered multiple times for money, in the US the homeless just quietly go about their own day. So although we saw a handful of homeless people in the area (and in all areas), not a single one approached or bothered us. We felt safe here. I'm really pleased we chose this hotel, and would happily...
Read moreStayed here 3 months ago for a business trip. Apparently, Club Quarters is a big hotel chain that caters to business travelers. As soon as I walked into my room, I realized why. It's really tiny but the bed and furniture were strategically placed to create space. It's efficient and surprisingly, the room had all the necessary amenities I needed except for an iron. I just called the front desk and they brought both an iron and ironing board within a few minutes. The check-in process was a breeze too. They have touchscreens in the lobby similar to Vegas hotels. Just type your name and voila, your card key spits out. You can also check-in using their mobile app. Very cool!
My room was located on the 3rd floor facing the front. The queen bed was super comfortable. The large TV featured multiple apps and plenty of HD channels. There's clock, phone and charging station with multiple USB and AC sockets right beside the bed. There's also a Keurig coffee on the writing desk. No tub in the bathroom but it did have toiletries and blow dryer. The entire room was clean and although it was small, I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Just a note, I booked a "Club Room". They do offer bigger size rooms at this hotel including suites.
The bonus perks were the complimentary wine happy hour from 5 to 6pm. Free coffee, juice and some fruits in the morning. Super-fast free wifi everywhere in the building. The building also has direct access to Connections Coworking Space (similar to WeWork) and a decent restaurant called Fish & Farm by the lobby. There's also a Starbucks within a few steps. The location was also super convenient. There were plenty of bars and restaurant within a block or two and the hotel was just a 10-minute walk to the Ferry Building, Chinatown and Embarcadero Bart Station.
I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were efficient and clean, the staff was very helpful, great location and it's not overpriced, about $150 per night including $23 resort fee (which I still don't understand why most hotels now started adding this fee). The only negative thing during my stay was the first room that was preassigned to me by the touchscreen. I found dirty gloves on the floor when I opened the door so I had to go back down to request for another room. Otherwise, I had a decent stay at Club Quarters and will consider...
