The Jay positions itself as a refined, boutique experience under Marriott’s Autograph Collection, but unfortunately, it doesn’t deliver on that promise. The branding suggests thoughtful design and elevated service, but what we experienced felt under-resourced and poorly executed.||||From arrival, it was clear staffing is an issue. Only one person was available to assist guests at the front entrance, juggling multiple cars and requests. Check-in was similarly understaffed, with a single front desk associate handling a growing line of tired travelers. While the staff were courteous and clearly doing their best, they were spread too thin — an issue of management, not effort.||||Our room was set up for two, even though the reservation was for three. Only two towels were provided, and even those were thin and undersized — not what you’d expect from a hotel in this category. The room bedding showed signs of wear, including a visible hole in the sheets. One puzzling feature was a timer that shuts off the bathroom lights after 30 minutes — a strange design choice when motion sensors are a far more functional and common solution.||||The hotel also omits bottled water in favor of a filtered water station at the end of the hallway — a reasonable eco-conscious move. But without providing a jug or reusable bottles in the room, it comes across as an incomplete solution that prioritizes cost savings over guest comfort.||||We've had far better experiences at similarly positioned properties, particularly in Hilton’s Curio Collection, where attention to detail and overall guest experience feel much more aligned with the branding.||The hotel’s location is one of its strongest assets. Situated in a highly walkable part of the city, it offers easy access to public transportation and is just a short stroll from vibrant neighborhoods like North Beach and Telegraph Hill. Whether you're exploring local cafés, climbing up to Coit Tower, or hopping on a streetcar, the area offers plenty to enjoy.||||The Jay has potential, and the staff deserve credit for their professionalism, but the overall execution falls short. With more thoughtful resourcing and attention to guest needs, it could live up to its Autograph Collection designation. Until then, I’d recommend...

Read more“Nestled in the heart of San Francisco's Embarcadero, the Jay Hotel, formerly known as the Le Meridien, has undergone quite the makeover, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer to the Embarcadero hotel scene. As frequent guests of the old Le Meridien, my family and I were excited to see what the transition had in store. And goodness, were we pleasantly surprised. The Jay Hotel, which is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, brings a fresh vibe and a bunch of very thoughtful upgrades to the rooms and throughout the property. First off, let's talk rooms. The location was already situated to offer some of the most gorgeous views of the city, so that was a given. On the other hand, we were able to say goodbye to water all over the bathroom floor with those ridiculously designed half shower doors. The shower doors at the Jay are fully enclosed, with a beautiful black frame giving it style plus practicality. And say hello to a foot pedestal in the shower for the ladies when they went to shave - genius. They were also considerate of other modern bathroom amenities, such as a spot for your phone and other essentials near the loo. And those under bed lights? A real lifesaver for those late-night bathroom runs. But wait, there's more. The mini bar? Well-stocked and ready to please, with some killer drink options to boot. And let's not forget the USB outlets galore - a digital nomad's dream. Now, onto the service. Amber Lopez, guest services manager was fantastic. She helped us navigate through a bit of a medical scare with professionalism and warmth, while Zoe Wong at "Third Floor SF" was incredibly thorough in helping ensure our food met some dietary restrictions we had. And let's give a shoutout to the familiar faces we've come to know and appreciate from the Le Meridien days. They've really upped their game, striking the perfect balance between attentive and incredibly hospitable. So, if you're looking for a comfy stay with a touch of class in the heart of SF, the Jay Hotel should be at the top of your list. Trust me, you won't be...
