I wish I could post -1000 stars as this is about the amount I was scammed by Wise Car Rental. I prepaid most of the bill (big mistake and one I will learn from) and when it came time to pick up the car - which was located at Fox Rentals in San Diego, they said that my contract was void and continued to make up reasons why it was void. The manager at Fox said she has had numerous complaints about this company. The only customer service rep is Markus - each time I called to speak with someone, he answered. He hung up on me, would not let me speak to a manager (said the manager does not talk to customers haha!!) and, after a long 2 hours at Fox, I had to sign a new contract with Fox in order to have a car for our 10 day trip! If you rent after reading this, then you are possibly setting yourself up to be out of pocket a large amount of money - I warned you! Completely unprofessional. I would not rent thru Fox either - namely because they deal with Wise Car and would not help in resolving the headache. Possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever had - absolute thiefs!! In response to your credit card stipulation - this is bs and just another way your company takes money from its customers. When I booked my rental, I BOOKED IT, not my husband - I took care of the booking. I was only allowed to list one driver and since he would be the main one, I listed him. I had the same credit card (which your company happily took) with my name on it along with my husband's name as driver - I was more than happy to pay the remaining balance (the balance of which was a small percentage of what was already paid) and your company put up a wall as far as working with me. So, rather than cancel the rental and re-do the contract - meaning you would still get 100% of the funds - you took all of my money and offered me nothing - would not work with me, would not work with the rental company (FOX) would not let me talk to a manager, hung up on me and gaslighted me thereafter. Total rip off and disgusting customer service. I was ready and willing to pay and your company chose to take my money and offer nothing. You ruined the first day of my trip, caused my family to miss our tour of Alcatraz due to the wait we had to endure at Fox. Your rep made excuse after excuse as to why the contract was null and void " "You were late, therefore a no show" Ahhh no, we were waiting for 2 hours in line at FOX, "The car you rented is no longer on the lot" Ahhh no, the car was there and is what we rented thru FOX after you ripped us off - on and on. As I was dealing with you at the FOX rental place, another guy was going thru the same issue with your company and as I said originally, the manager at FOX said that you guys pull this BS all the time. Your contracts are deceitful and are designed to take peoples money without offering a service. The fact that Markus hung up, refused to allow me to speak with a manager, & refused to talk with FOX, is an indication of what your company is all about - and it ain't customer service. I have NEVER experienced something like this before and hope I never do again. I will be reporting you to the BBB and at the end of the day, lesson learned. Spare me your BS answer - your contracts are ridiculous - so is your company, so is your response.
Your response "if you have further questions...... really??!! I tried this already and got nowhere - only Markus. Apparently your company has only one person to speak with and it wasn't you, Rachel. Are you going to refund my money? haha
Lastly..... are you not seeing the other reviews - I am not alone in this and from what I have read, your company is just a scam and you have no intention of working with your customers and any hiccups that may come up - small print on contracts is 'small print' for a reason. You set people up to lose their $$$$$. Sleep well - I am...
Read moreDue to emergency surgery for a family member, we could not travel and I had to cancel our Wisecars reservation for the period 6/25/23-7/5/23. I first contacted Wisecars on 6/13/23 to request cancellation and a refund. They asked for more details about the reason for cancellation (in principle, this was none of their business...) and offered a credit voucher instead. On 6/14/23, I replied, explaining myself further and saying "No thank you" to the voucher and, again, requesting a full refund. That was the last time I heard from them. I reached out again on 6/22 and 6/23, since I still had not received confirmation of the cancellation. On 6/23 I also called customer support, which kept me on hold for 20 minutes and then transferred me to voicemail. I again left a message, requesting a refund and asking them to contact me to confirm. As of today, I still have not heard back from Wisecars. They also removed my online support ticket, which seems odd because the issue has not been resolved.
At this point, I am simply stunned by the fact that this company seems to think that ignoring customers is a good business strategy. I also blame myself for not doing my homework better before booking with Wisecars. For those who are interested in seeing anything other than 5-star reviews on Google, I recommend you also check out the BBB reviews.
*EDIT (06/27/2023): About an hour and a half after posting my initial review on Google, Wisecars contacted me with a cancellation notice and a promise of a refund. The following day (06/26/2023), I received a message stating that Wisecars was aware of my Google review. They asked me to retract it because at the time of me writing it, the reservation had already been canceled and a refund had already been issued. This was not correct: The first time I heard from Wisecars after our initial contact on 06/14/2023 was after I posted my review. I therefore promised them I would amend/edit, rather than retract, my review.
At this point, I have received a refund, apologies, and a promise that Wisecars will work on improving their communication practices. That's fine for me at this point, but I hope that others who have similar experiences will receive the...
Read moreSubject: Unfair Experience with Wisecars Car Rental: Unauthorized Payment and Incomplete Refund
I want to express my extreme disappointment with Wisecars Car Rental after a recent incident that left me frustrated and dissatisfied. I attempted to book a rental car with your company, but the experience that followed was nothing short of a nightmare.
Firstly, I encountered a major issue during the booking process. Despite meeting all the necessary criteria and providing accurate information, I was denied the ability to make a reservation solely because of my age as a young driver. However, this issue did not end here. Despite not being able to complete the booking, my payment was still processed and charged to my account. This unauthorized charge caused significant inconvenience and financial stress.
Upon realizing this error, I immediately contacted Wisecars Car Rental's customer service department to address the issue and request a refund for the full amount since I never received any services from your company. I was astounded by the lack of professionalism and empathy displayed by your customer service representatives. They not only failed to provide a timely resolution but also provided vague and unhelpful responses.
Furthermore, when I finally received a refund, I was only reimbursed 75% of the total fees. This is unacceptable and further demonstrates the disregard for customers who have been wronged by Wisecars Car Rental. I should have received a full refund for a service I never received and for an error that was entirely the company's fault.
In summary, my experience with Wisecars Car Rental has been frustrating, inconvenient, and costly. Being denied a rental due to my age, having an unauthorized payment processed, and then only receiving a partial refund have left me with a very negative impression of your company. I strongly urge Wisecars Car Rental to review its policies, improve its customer service, and ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future. This kind of treatment of customers is not only unethical but also damaging to...
