Fitness SF is hands down the best gym chain in San Francisco. It’s a fantastic value for the price point, especially with their flexible month-to-month membership option that you can cancel anytime.
They have locations throughout the city but their Transbay gym is the newest and most modern of them all. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the space. It’s a huge gym, with multiple rooms, a spacious open floor plan, and large windows for great light throughout.
Even during the busiest hours after work, the space never feels too cramped like some other gyms. I especially like the room with turf which has 10+ squat racks. A perfect space for leg day.
They also have a nice lounge/lobby area at the entrance. You’ll always see people hanging out or doing work in there. It makes the club feel more social and a place you can spend time in. The staff are also nice and the front desk person is always friendly and welcoming.
The locker rooms also feel quite premium and are always very clean. They have private bathroom stalls with those fancy heated toilet seats with bidets. The showers use glass doors and a marble-like tile that looks elegant. Definitely a big step up from a Planet Fitness or 24 Hour locker room.
One minor gripe I have with Fitness SF in general is their toiletries. All their products are from a brand called EO but I really don’t like the smell of any of them. I always bring my own body wash/shampoo.
Overall though, Fitness SF Transbay is a fantastic gym that feels modern, spacious and social. It’s definitely one of the best gyms I’ve ever seen for its price...
Read moreExtremely predatory business, overcrowded gyms, responsive sales team and unresponsive customer support.
I have used my plan twice in the first couple days and requested an account cancelation after the first week because I did not forsee myself using the service. I am on a theoretically "month-to-month" plan
I was told that not only was I not eligible for even a pro-rated refund of a service I am not using (because I submitted a cancelation request 2 business days after eligibility over a period of time where I did not even use the service), but also that I would be charged for the NEXT TWO MONTHS.
Their policy is apparently a 3 month minimum, with a 60 days cancelation notice in advance. Extremely anti consumer for a product that is okay at best. Not worth the price, not worth the lack of support and clear bent of the company to take advantage of whatever extra revenue they can squeeze from members.
I wish I had better things to say because a lot of the equipment decisions are clearly thought out but the customer interactions has left me with an extremely poor taste in my mouth and as of now I would strongly recommend against using fitness sf gyms.
I will soon post photos of how overcrowded the gym is and cramped some of the other...
Read moreIt’s impossible to cancel membership. I’ve started it 22d July, and they charged me 32 usd for the rest of Jul and additional 99 usd as a prepayment for last month. I’m moving to another town in September, so I’ve sent a request to cancel membership, however they refuse to do that. They want me to pay August fee, and don’t listen to me when I explain that I’ve been already charged for it. Why should I pay twice? In membership agreement it’s stated that I need to cancel at least 15 days before the next billing cycle. I’ve sent cancelation request as of 5-Aug which is 28 days before September billing cycle. Don’t understand what I was charged for, and why do I have to pay again when I’m asking to cancel? Im asking management to pay attention to this issue, as when I send email to cancelation team, I receive response from the new person each time, with standard text. Looks like they don’t really read my emails. Thank you!
Updating my review to answer owner's questions: there is no single world in your membership agreement that minimum I should pay for 3 months. Also, it doesn't say that you charge last month fee at the moment of enrollment (USD 99), which you did. It's been 4 days now that I can't cancel...
