I stayed here during a recent business trip and was mostly impressed. I had an inside-facing king room. They were not kidding when they said no view... it literally faced the other side of the hotel. While the view was lacking , the room itself was nice. It was very spacious for one person and was clean. The front desk staff was very kind. I arrived quite early and did not expect to be able to check in. However, they had my room ready to go! I also had one issue with my card being charged without my permission, and they were quick to fix the problem! The location is very close to a lot of things. It’s easy to access public transportation and many attractions are within walking distance. If you’re not sure how to get somewhere, the staff is very helpful in giving directions! I would definitely stay here again the next time I’m in town.

Stayed here for a weekend stay with a friend. Hotel was decent and had nice touches throughout the hotel. The hotel bar was shut down during our stay and the pop up bar worked but was less than thrilling. Ordered room service our first morning and was shocked at the price for a plate of fruit and a pot of coffee. I understand it's room service but charging $60 for something that simple is insane. Beds were comfortable and I appreciated the Bose player with CD's, a cute touch. Also enjoyed the lavender that is scattered throughout the hotel. Would stay again, and we lucked out with a wonderful view!

We are a bay area natives but we always like to treat ourselves for night in the city without our kids (or my mother in law 😅). Hotel Vitale is always our first choice! Great location, amazing view and good service. Staying there during the 4th of July or new years eve is something you must try. I give them 4 because the rooms could be more fancier to be a 5 stars quality. All overall a solid choice 😊

I’d rate it around 4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up here.||First off, I really appreciated the early check-in, which set a nice tone for our visit. The birthday cake waiting for us was a delightful surprise and made our celebration feel extra special. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, with warm, inviting furniture, cozy throw blankets, and plush pillows that made it very comfortable. We loved the hotel’s focus on sustainability and the woodsy decor—it felt both luxurious and eco-friendly.||The spa, while on the smaller side, offered fantastic massages that were definitely a highlight of our stay. I did wish there were more communal spaces to relax together, as the outdoor areas were a bit too chilly for comfort during our visit. The gym, although compact, was well-equipped with a squat rack, leg press, heavy dumbbells, and all the essential cardio machines, which was a nice bonus.||One area that could use some improvement was the valet service. At $79 per day, the fee felt a bit steep, especially given our experience. We had a frustrating moment when we asked for our car for a dinner reservation just outside the complimentary drop-off radius. The valet attendant told us it would take 15-20 minutes to get our vehicle, but it seemed like our request was overlooked. After waiting the full 20 minutes, we noticed that our car hadn’t even been started. It was only when another guest arrived to park that our vehicle was finally brought up. I expected a more proactive approach from the valet staff, especially since we were on a tight schedule.|We also ran into an issue with our folio upon departure. A credit that was supposed to be applied was missing, and we ended up waiting for it to be corrected. ||Unfortunately, we had to leave without a resolution, and when I later received the emailed folio, it was still incorrect. I had to call back to sort out the discrepancy.|On a brighter note, the in-room dining service was quite good, and the hotel’s location near the Embarcadero was perfect for our evening plans.||Overall, while we enjoyed our stay at 1 Hotel San Francisco and made some great memories, the valet experience and the issues with our departure folio were notable downsides. I would definitely consider returning...

Very inefficient and uncaring hotel.

  1. Check in- they had no record of credit card authorization form on file for either of our rooms. When we produced the PDF proof and the confirmation numbers the front desk said it was an old credit card form they no longer use. The hotel gave us that form.
  2. Late night noise complaints from the room next to ours. Tried calling front desk and no one answered for 5 minutes, never got through. Someone else must have called because hotel staff stopped by that room 2 x’s requesting they be quiet or they would be kicked out. Doors continued to slam. Later some type of room service or outside food delivery person went to that same room. Stood in hallway outside our door talking louder than the original noise complaint. Jokingly the delivery person said “your fun, I’ll tell the front desk not to kick you out”.
  3. Check out took 35 minutes. We had to make sure they didn’t overcharge us. We had a $50 food credit for breakfast and $50 Spa credit they told us about when we checked in. Neither credit had been applied to our bill, front desk said their system not set up correctly to do it. Took 15 minutes to complete manually.
  4. At check out we told the noise complaint story to the receptionist. She was very nice and said she would have a manager call me. I provided my cell from number and never heard from the hotel.
  5. This afternoon, I called Hotel Vitale and spoke to Jason Blackburn, a manager? Told him about all items above. Jason was polite, apologized, but said they wouldn’t do anything. Maybe a possible free upgrade for a room in the future. Doesn't help since we live...

What has happened to this place? It used to be ok, but I imagine management has changed recently since it has gone so far down hill so quickly. I just ordered a small, simple dinner after a long trip, they told me it would be here in 30 mins. 1 hour later it’s still not here. I called to check and got voice mail, then checked with the front desk who told me he would tell the manager immediately - I asked to talk with the manager directly, then he told me the manager actually wasn’t there at all and actually he was just going to write something down and maybe a manager would see it tomorrow.

I eventually got a hold of someone in the restaurant and they told me they didn’t know which room to deliver the food to so just left it in front of a random room on my floor. He then told me that the food was probably cold, but if I look around in the hall I could probably find it.

Just one issue after another here. But the first one was my fault - should have stayed somewhere else. Likely my last stay here after years of making this my home base in SF.

This does remind me of one other issue I had here a while back when my red eye got delayed. I came in late and exhausted and they had actually given my room away! They were totally full and I just had to go find another hotel in the middle of the night. What a...
