When it comes to courthouses and my opinion of them I'd have to say that this one is the tops! I've been to a lot of courthouses so trust me when I say this one's at the top. The ones at the bottom aren't nearly as open to the photosphere I took that accompanies my thoughts or for that matter, having thoughts or thinking that I matter but before I get off track let me tell you about what matters.
The Landscaping around the Magnificent Spanish influence of the building compliments majestic decor covering the inside.
My first and only visit to this Courthouse where I was able to see the beyond the expensive doors was when being transported from the neighbouring holding cell across the street. Even as I was duck-walking and stumbling towards the entrance in the handcuffs and shackles my future felt swell. When the middle of the day lunch hour rush on neighboring State St. a block away collided with me and began taking selfies using my life as a backdrop I should have hid my head in shame but I didn’t.
Thank four of Santa Barbaras finest escorts with guns and itchy trigger fingers for that will to be proud of where they were dragging me towards. Life didn't make a difference in the impact the building left on me and that says a lot if it says anything at all.
It's scary to think I would almost not be mad at myself or find a need to break down in repentance on my knees to Joel Osteen on Sunday morning asking for absolvation.
I Love Magnolias, Palm trees and a forboding police presence around every corner because I am addicted to life and all the living there is to do on this compound when in it.
This is Santa Barbara if you can make it here you can make it anywhere! Sometimes you just gotta get here even if it the wrong way is what got you here be glad that your here and if you can make it here... Your either a millionaire or just another petty criminal stopped over on there way to...
Read moreI’ve been to a lot of different cities and the last thing anyone recommends me to go checkout is the courthouse. When I read online that the Santa Barbara courthouse was a must while I was in town, I figured why not go and check it out.
I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by it all. I mean just from outside, it looked really different from the superior court of Los Angeles as it was a lot smaller, but what caught my eye was how antiquated the building looked. I liked seeing the big murals on the walls and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I found it interesting that despite its older structure, it’s still in use.
Walking around inside was a lot of fun but the highlight was the tower with views of the city and everything. You can take an elevator or go up the stairs to get there.
One other thing that really stood out to me about this place was the gardens right outside. There was a lot of people taking photos there or just hanging out on the lawn. I mean, they are really beautiful and well kept and seem like a great place in town to hang out and kill time.
Also, the older woman at the information booth was really helpful. She narrowed down some activities for me to do while I was in the city and even recommended me places to go and eat food. She was sweet and took her time showing me a map of the city with all the points of interest. Give...
Read moreEnded up here after reading Reddit reviews on wedding courthouse recommendations in LA. Santa Barbara is not LA, but I saw someone recommend getting married here instead of in LA, and my partner and I set up an appointment. Appointments are made three months in advance, unless there is a last minute cancelation. The options are to have a private ceremony with up to 15 people, or a larger and more traditional ceremony with more guests than that (I forgot what the guest cap is), and the option to choose to bring your own officiant. I believe the larger ceremony option is the one to reserve the gardens. If you choose to hire a photographer, the photographer is part of the 15 people guest list (for the court officiant wedding). This place is beautiful. I recommend watching YouTube videos of the entire grounds, or a video of a walking tour to get an idea of what to expect. I saw a few women wearing more traditional wedding dresses for their court weddings. It matched the atmosphere. Just mentioning because I was contemplating on whether to wear a short dress or a long dress, or to have a short veil or a long veil. If you are a future bride, thinking the same thing, wear whatever makes you haply :) I told myself "do it for the pictures!" And because it...
