My friend was visiting from out of State. It was her last day here, we decided to go to breakfast. The Lilac Patisserie was number 1 on our list. The reviews were good and the "word" around town said it was a treat not to be missed! We got there when they opened. We ordered, were given a number and we sat down to wait. My friend ordered Eggs Benedict, and I had French Toast with a side of Applewood Smoked Bacon. We had coffee with cream. My French Toast came with sweet, tasty strawberries & blueberries. There was real maple syrup served warm. My Toast was Gluten Free which was a big selling point for me. Our coffee came in individual porcelain pour pots and a small glass container of cream. Everything tasted great! The staff was warm and friendly. Everything was served with a smile, and it all looked (and smelled) awesome. The restaurant itself was so pretty and clean. The inside is painted a light lavender color with white touches. The floor had that tile called "Penny Tiles". There are high ceilings and lots of glass. They have lots of delicious-looking cakes, and other baked goods made right on the premises. Be aware though, that not everything on the menu is offered daily. The baked good will fluctuate, as there isn't enough room for all of it. You may want to check out their website for specific cakes and order them ahead of time. We parked in the public lot behind the restaurant on Figueroa. If you are lucky enough to grab street parking, go for it. The restrooms are clean.

I had a lovely Saturday brunch here with my spouse. We had tea (Earl Grey, hot), coffee, a veggie quiche, the french toast, and a fruit tart. First of all, the atmosphere is just right. Cozy tables, mostly for 2, are sprinkled throughout the cafe, with a few spots to sit outside. The decor is minimal and bright and the menus are simple, yet elegant. The food is served on charming white ceramic dishes that stand out nicely on the granite pattern tables. Everything is delicious. The tea is served in a pot, rather than 1 cup at a time, and there are non-dairy options for cream/milk as well. The crusts on the quiche and tarte are perfect. The quiche is savory and flakey with a lovely thick filling. I recommend sharing it for sure, if only to have room for other things as well. The tarte consists of perfectly ripe fruit thinly sliced and arranged in lovely patterns over a light, creamy filling. The crust is a perfect short crust with just the right touch of sweetness to compliment the beautiful fillings. The combination of textures is a perfect balance. Lastly, the French Toast. While a little on the dry side, the flavor is unique and lovely with distinct orange overtones. There is a VERY subtle flavor of cardamom or fennel (we couldn't identify which), a perfect touch for those intense flavors.

This little French style bakery has a nice atmosphere inside and out! It’s filled with all kinds of pastries, cakes, muffins , cookies and I would have loved to try everything there but it wasn’t the day for that! It’s not easy finding an exclusive gluten free bakery at least where I am from, most people don’t even know what gluten free means!! We had a nice experience on the back patio with drip coffee and tea my daughter had the key lime tart and loved it! I had a classic coffee cake that I wish was bigger! The wait staff was helpful and fast! I will definitely be back on my next visit to Santa Barbara!! If you are gluten free definitely stop by but be ready to pay a lot more than a regular bakery with portion sizes varied!! Well worth it in my opinion for the experience and not having to fuss about what I can eat! They also sell wedding cakes and bread that all looked amazing! Also available for sale is their own gluten free flour blend which I thought was amazing! Swing by during your stroll through Santa Barbara warm up with some drip coffee and something sweet I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Loved this place. I’ve been gluten free for about 8 years now and this was the BEST gluten free bread I have ever tasted anywhere. The menu is a bit pricey, but for gluten free food the price was normal, and for the quality so so worth it. Even my non-gluten free friend thought the bread was amazing. Also had their key lime tart which was delicious. Will be coming back here anytime we’re in SB for sure! Apart from the delicious food, the place was really cute, had great music (Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke, Parov Stellar while we were there), nice natural light, and attentive staff. There was also a clear window so you could see one of the cake decorators working, and she was amazing! Wish we were hungry enough to try a piece of cake!

My kids and I are gluten free and we were THRILLED to find this dedicated gluten free bakery and cafe. We only got sweets and coffee (they have breakfast and lunch too!) and everything was divine! We got the red velvet cupcake, the lemon meringue tart, the linzertortes cookie, and the Berry Patch cake. This is the best gluten free bakery we’ve ever been to! (And we’ve tried a lot!)

We had breakfast at this place. Very nice staff and, you can choose a table, polite attentive staff, the waiter especially wiped the table for us. They have delicious pastries. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a bright large room, and pleasant music. There are tables outside. The food is delicious, fresh. Above average prices
