So after googling places to eat in santa barbara we opted for an Indian tonight. Now been from the UK near curry capital we have tried many places and different styles of Indian food. On arrival at the restaurant we asked for a table for two and got seated straight away. We where given the menus and a glass of water each. Very quickly the server came back asking for our order, I should have said could we have a couple more minutes so that was my own fault. Anyway we order our food I asked for onion bhaji and my husband had shrimp pakorra. He said his was lovely. My starter never arrived. Then the curry came out. So we said our starter never arrived he didn't seem bothered at all about this. So we proceeded with our mains. Now my husband had a lamb curry and asked for it madras strength and I order menthi chicken curry, I specifically said could I have it like a strength of masla. Well mine was hotter than the lamb so hubby ended up eating mine aswell. I didnt want a korma style as thats two creamy and coconut for me but i did say please do it medium strength. The rice and garlic bread was lovely. When they brought the bill my chicken said spicy next to it on the bill. So even though the food was good I felt the server didn't listen and therefore it spoilt my experience of...
Read moreThis restaurant is conveniently located near Paseo Nuevo Shopping. After some shopping, we decided to walk to this place. We chose it based on the positive reviews it received. To start, we ordered Nimbu Pani, Salty Lassi, and Mango Lassi. The Nimbu Pani and Salty Lassi were good, while the Mango Lassi was just okay. From the Tandoori Specialties, we ordered Paneer Tikka, which arrived sizzling. The onions and bell peppers tasted better than the Paneer itself. The Paneer lacked spices and salt.
For the main course, we selected Dal Makhani, Bhindi Bhaji, and Bengan Bhartha, along with Garlic Naan and Chicken Naan. The entrees came with two servings of rice. Unfortunately, none of the curries were particularly good; they were just passable. The Dal Makhani didn't taste authentic, and the Bhindi Bhaji was too tough to eat, suggesting that the okra used was old and not tender anymore. The Bengan Bhartha lacked the smoky eggplant flavor and was dominated by onions and tomatoes. The Garlic Naans were decent, but the Chicken Naan could be skipped.
Overall, our dinner experience was quite disappointing. I would advise not to rely solely on the reviews. Looks might be deceiving too. Alternatively, you may want to stick to their Tandoori items, as they might excel...
