Reviewing as buyer and seller
Buyer: Great variety of items for tons of styles! I've found a few pieces throughout the store that have stayed in my wardrobe for years. I highly recommend coming mid week and weekend because they get a ton of great new items at the beginning of the week that need to be processed before hitting the sales floor. That being said, going often is your best bet for the super trendy in-demand items. Their prices are amazing, which makes each find worth it. They maintain a stock of basics along with their trendy stuff. My favorite finds tend to be their Free People and denim, but I've also found some cute Mod Cloth and Lululemon.
Seller: I have roughly 1 closet clean out per year since my size and style tends to change. That being said I will come with an IKEA bag full of folded and organized clothes. They aren't very strict like some places but do have some guidelines that you should look up on their Instagram and website. Also, they are pretty straightforward with how their process works and their time estimates are pretty accurate. I recommend that anyone interested in selling arrive close to opening on their buying days(more information online). I also try to make their lives easier by organizing the items I bring. The staff is really nice and can get overwhelmed from sorting through so much stuff. Payouts are fair considering the fact that they are instant, need to be processed by employees and become the store's responsibility for selling and making a profit. Like many others, sometimes I'm surprised by what they decide not to take, but it's also fair to consider that the store is selling to those who frequent their specific location, live nearby and for their demographics. An item can be name brand, new with tags and in season, but if their typical clientel hasn't been looking for it or they have too much in stock already, that's okay.
I hope this helps anyone that's been wanting to stop by to shop or sell. I noticed there weren't many recent reviews and wanted to put...
Read moreMy hopes were high for this store based on the enthusiasm showcased on their website but unfortunately my first visit has turned into my last.
I made sure to check the selling rules before arrival. It states clearly on the website that clothes can be brought in a "bag, box, or laundry basket" however when I brought the basket in, I was told by the employee at the counter that they only take clothes in bags but since it was my first visit they would make an exception.
The general condescension of the employees was offputting when I returned a couple hours later and the vibes were a match to the store's lighting—dim and unwelcoming. They purchased the two handbags I had placed on top of the clothes and nothing else.
They didn't even look at my basket of clothes which included gently used items from Lululemon, Ann Taylor, Levis, Giorgio Armani, Topshop, Everlane, Mango, Urban Outfitters, and ignored the BLANK NYC (REVOLVE) genuine suede moto jacket and barely used Rebecca Minkoff Chevron Quilted crossbody bag—probably because it was placed within the clothes. I'm a small gal so many of the clothing items were petites which seemed to have baffled the employee who believed I had brought in children's clothes. He referred me to a nearby children's donation center and when I expressed confusion, he then took time to explain why children in need require clothing donations. I definitely did not need that mansplained to me.
Left the store and immediately went to Goodwill (the employees there were very nice!). Will not be buying or selling to this store...
Read moreI have visited this store many times to sell my daughter’s clothes that she has grown out of. The girl that I visited earlier today was very kind and helpful but, every time I bring in a big basket full of clothes, they only take 1 thing out of the entire basket. I have higher end items in my basket as well. Last time I visited, I had several pairs of Calvin Klein shorts and other higher end item that they said they didn’t need. I was very irritated because I see some things on their rack that look like they came from very random places and off brands. Also, my other complaint is that they don’t take anything above a size 12; at least they haven’t taken anything from me above a size 12. The store feels like it’s geared mostly towards size 6 teen girls. If you don’t fit in that size or don’t have any clothes to sell that are that size, don’t bother bringing anything in because they won’t take it.
I will be bringing my higher end clothes to other consignment shops around the valley since clearly, Fashion Runway is a...
