Food was great, ambience was good, but service was subpar. My husband and I finally decided to try this place, and we both loved our portobello chicken and our desserts (crème brûlée and the triple chocolate brownie dish). But for the price one pays at this place, you would expect the service to be better than average.
We were there on a Thursday night, and although there were more people than we expected, it was nowhere near as crowded as it would’ve been on a weekend night. It took several minutes for our server to initially greet us. When she asked for our drink and appetizer order, we said we’re fine with water while my husband ordered a beer. No appetizers, but we placed our main course order. She asked if we would like bread, and we said yes.
She never came back to our table after taking our order (which meant that our water glasses remained as empty as our table with no bread basket). When another server brought our plates and asked if there’s anything else he can get for us, we asked for bread and for more water. While we were leisurely enjoying our meal, she checked in on us just once, and so we asked, once again, for more water (lemme tell you, those glasses were small and were filled more with ice than water). When we were done, she asked if she can take the plates, to which we said yes. She was about to walk away when I asked for the dessert menu. After we were done with our meal, she gave us the check….and even then, it took her yet another several minutes to retrieve it. As good as the food was, the mediocre service is what will deter us from choosing to dine here again. When the check for two people is over $100 and your server makes you feel like you’re not worth her time and attention, we’ll happily spend our...
Read moreSaltcreek is the staple of Santa Clarita! Over 25 years ago I was in high school and I went on one of my first dates there. The consistency in the food and the quality of the service is unparalleled to any other place in town. Greg Amsler has created an incredible go to in town. His attention to detail and his heart for giving back in the community makes this restaurant stand out above all others. There is not a charity event I go to in town where Saltcreek is not the most generous contributor. Jennifer Chadwick is so gracious and lovely, at the same time runs that place like a well oiled machine. She always makes sure everyone is taken care of. There have been times where I have been completely okay with my food, but it didn’t meet her standards, so she took my plate and replaced it with brilliance I didn’t even know I needed in my life. They must do a personality test when they hire because everyone who works there is so enjoyable to interact with. I love all the servers there, but my favorite is Anthony. He has a serious face at first, but he always remembers what I like to drink and he knows my favorite foods and he remembers my severe gluten allergy. I specifically ask for him, but if he is not available, I am never disappointed. Joey is my favorite bartender. He knows exactly what I like. He makes the best Old Fashion in town and he can just look at me and know what I’m in the mood for. Saltcreek is very careful with my allergy. They make the best steak in town! Their goat cheese marinara is my favorite thing in the world. If you are keto or gluten intolerant, order grilled chicken with the goat cheese marinara dumped on top of it! It will change your life!! Mmmmm! I’m...
Read moreThe good thing about Salt Creek Grille is their food. It's very very tasty and the portions are large. The scallops were a tiny bit rubbery but I forgive that because scallops are hard to get right and I still ate and enjoyed them. The portobello chicken and the grilled pear and scallops salad were excellent. The lemon lavender creme brulee was to die for!! The drinks we had (april showers and pain killer) were pretty good but nothing to go home about. And yes as you'd expect it's very pricey here, but my partner and I went for our anniversary so we had planned to spend a good amount. Was disappointed to see they don't do the anniversary dessert that I saw in other's reviews anymore I guess, we told both the hostess and waiter it was our anniversary but we didn't get it. Not the end of the world I guess. What was pretty dang bad was the service. Poor dude had no idea what he was doing. I don't know if he was new or just had an off day. But he forgot what our orders were, forgot we had already ordered dessert and didn't put the order in, forgot to get our to go boxes that we asked for, and our drinks came AFTER the food which was really strange? Plus he'd chat with other patrons about random things for so long that other tables would get neglected. I saw one guy come up to the waiter while he was near our table and ask for a fork presumably because the waiter didn't come to his table to check on him like he should. At one point he said he'd be right back and then ended up talking to another table for so long I considered asking someone else for help. It was honestly ridiculous. Great food, bad service, not worth the $125 I spent. Might return if I got a different waiter and had...
