It's small but absolutely beautiful! Not only does it have roses as its namesake implies, but it has several very old very large trees that are just magical. It hasn't been too crowded on the days we went, and the park was quite clean and nicely maintained. There are curb cuts, handicapped parking spaces, some paved pathways, and many places around the roses to sit. There is at least one grill and picnic table, but there are no bathrooms. We see people gathering to do martial arts, lots of people with dogs, and the occasional person with a guitar. One of our favorite aspects of this park so far has been the people who visit, our dogs have attracted all types of characters to come say hello, and because of this we have now had many great conversations about things to do and see in the area. We love this park!

We arrived in Santa Fe earlier than expected and our check in was 2 hours away. We were looking for something to do while we waited, and since we had our dogs with us, we opted for the closest park. We were all very happy with this choice and were amazed at finding such a wonderful place. It was not crowded, but it was certainly well visited. There were quite a few people there, most with dogs, and very friendly! Many of the locals stopped by and introduced themselves and their dogs and we enjoyed the conversations. There's plenty of shade, trees, flowers and grass. The actual rose garden is at the end of the park area and it's breathtaking!

This year the Rose Park was phenomenal! Early June the roses exploded in different types and varieties. The colors are ‘psychedelic’ and a must see throughout June. Make sure you breathe deep as you approach the garden as the fragrance is overwhelmingly wonderful! On my calendar to see them next year!

PEACE AND QUIET IN A SERENE OUTDOOR SETTING.... "Rose Park," as it's locally known is an ideal place for a picnic lunch, a quiet conversation with a friend, an hour with a favorite book, or sketchbook/canvas/charcoal and paints. This is a serene local treasure with lots of room. This is a favorite place for yoga and Tai Chi / Chi Gong practice. Dog owners walk their dogs here, and are good about cleaning up after their pets. There are dozens of well-tended rose bushes at one end of the park and a beautiful 75' high (my guesstimate) Sequoia tree, at the other end. There's also lots of shade, a couple of picnic tables, and a dozen, or so, benches. There are water fountains, but no restrooms, here. There is ample street parking, here, but avoid the resident- only parking across the street. Admittedly, this is such a sweet quiet location for writing and quiet contemplation that I'm half tempted to keep it a secret, but do come for a quiet and peaceful visit. This is a very special place. And like a cherished book or artwork, share it with those who will appreciate it's peaceful beauty.
