I like to break my reviews into 4 parts. The first part being atmosphere, second being food and service, third cost and location and fourth being an overall summary and my personal opinions. I really struggled with writing this review, because I have had many great experiences at Pyramid Cafe while having some truly awful 1 start encounters. With that being said lets jump in!
---The atmosphere is dated and the colors feel encroaching. It isn't the warmest feeling restaurant and the kitchen is loud.
---The food is completely hit or miss. I have had some wonderful salads and kabobs but some awfully overcooked burned rice. The service is my biggest issue at Pyramid. I have had a cashier short my change taking a tip for herself and refusing to admit it, numerous orders lost and overcharges/misorders. The staff seems inadequately trained and doesn't know the menu well.
Pyramid would be reasonably priced if it wasn't for the awful service. The food 9/10 times is excellent Greek food but I have a difficult time paying rude, dishonest, mean staff. Pyramid is in a great location and has easy parking and plenty of room to wait around in.
Lastly my opinion and tips. I love the Yero salad and the curly fries are scrumptious. The staff and dated atmosphere is a turn off for me. I often order in and pick up food to eat at a nearby park. Worth a try when you're craving...
Read moreWent in last night, looking forward to getting some Shawarma, maybe some Baba ganoush, and a tasty beer to wash it down. Instead, the server refused to serve me and my partner drinks because he "couldn't verify our ID's." First, he looked at them nervously for quite some time, said ok, and took our orders. Immediately came back and asked to see the IDs again, then took them into the back of the restaurant. NOT COOL! I feel at risk for fraud anytime someone walks off with my identification. He came back and refused to serve us even though he had already said yes and taken our orders.
Both of us are 23-24 and have state-issued horizontal drivers liceneses. Granted, we are both out of state having recently moved here, but I've never had any trouble anywhere else in Santa Fe or New Mexico before. Maybe it takes someone longer to find the date, but never turning me away. He said that excise had busted them recently and so he was nervous. Essentially, the fault has been put on the customer that the restaurant was busted by excise, and yet still the serving staff does not understand how to correctly read a state-issued ID. This was extremely frustrating so we took our business elsewhere. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I don't think I'll ever bother to return to try out...
Read moreMy friend and I were treated rudely and loudly at the pyramid cafe. We asked waiter what was with sandwich. He said fries or salad. We asked about the fries and waiter said we could have hummus as a substitute. We asked "is that instead of the fries?" Again he said we could have hummus instead. No mention of extra price it could be a substitute for the fries. I said, "no feta", three time dressing on side. Salad arrived, mine with feta, hers with hummus. I had asked dressing on side. I sent dish back. No apology. Order came back again. The dressing was on the salad. I let it go. No mention of extra cost for dressing on side. Bill came with a 2$charge for hummus/ 1$fondressing on side. I asked waiter why we were not told when he had suggested twice we could have the hummus as a substitute. He was angry said price was on menu and we should have known. Next came the boss who started yelling. "Price was on menu price look n menu." I again said the waiter never told us. He got louder n angrier. He yelled, "you don't have to tip". All this over 2$ .we won't be...
