In a world often dominated by the towering behemoths of urban jungles, there exists a haven that captures the essence of an idyllic past. Seaside, Florida, a name that not only describes its location but also its very spirit. Some may know it as the backdrop to the cinematic marvel, 'The Truman Show', and in many ways, it does possess the charm of a movie set brought to life.
The architecture whispers tales of a bygone era, and every corner seems meticulously curated to transport its visitors to a time of simplicity and charm. But be forewarned, dear traveler, for its allure is not a well-kept secret. Even during what one might consider the 'off-season', Seaside bustles with activity. I ventured in mid-October, naively expecting tranquility, only to be met with the delightful chaos of its popularity. Parking, I must admit, was a game of patience and perseverance, and the traffic tested my resolve.
Yet, even with these minor inconveniences, Seaside captivates. Its magnetic charm, the very reason for its bustling streets, is undeniable. To rate it any less than five stars would be a disservice to its enchanting aura. For in the end, places like Seaside remind us of the beauty that exists when community, history, and...
Read moreSeaside has really gone down hill. My family have been going to Seaside almost once a year since 1985 when I was 11. The last three times I've gone I've enjoyed taking my kids to the beach, but I've also noticed a negative change in the area. The houses are starting to show thier age and there is always construction going on. Used to be you could sit up in a tower and listen to the shore/waves/beach but now all you hear is construction equipment. The once quiet streets that used to be great for riding bicycles has become dangerous due to constructions crews coming in and out and at speed, not to mention the influx of rented golf carts. What used to be a great place to go as a family is no more. The last day of our moust recent visit, last week, the beach of fun loving families was taken over by rowdy college age, maybe slightly older, young adults who quickly planted an LSU flag, turned up their ipod docking station and proceeded to play, way too loudly, rap and R&B music... and displaying the kind of behavior I'm more used to seeing in Panama City Beach. Needless to say we were forced to move down to a quieter part of the beach that wasn't really part of the Seaside beach. SAD... We...
Read moreSeaside is one of the most magical little beach towns I’ve ever experienced. I started vacationing here over eight years ago and now I live here. It never gets old. Their special seasonal events are getting better and better every year. We absolutely love their 4th of July celebration, trick or treating on Halloween, seeing the Christmas Holiday parade and celebrating New Years here. Fireworks on the beach are totally unforgettable! Pretty much anything you’d want to eat or drink is here and it’s delicious! Anything from Cocina Cubana, coffee from Amavida, Pickles fries are a few favorites. The Chapel is stunning. The layout of the town is simple and convenient for guests to get around Central Square and back to their homes. Lots of shops and unique things to see. It’s unlike anywhere else....
