I went to look for a baby monitor system but was quickly turned down by the man and lady at the front counter but I thought they did have a few last time I visited no I was told I was mistaken so I decided to look anyways but after only a few short seconds I said isn't that a baby monitor system right there? Sincerely asking. Without even turning around the lady said ya. Oh ok can I see it and what is the price range from due to noticing that they actually had a couple different systems. they were really snobby and told me the price so I decided to go with the cheaper one I had decided to myself anyway but I wanted to no that the quality was gonna be good but the lady stood over three feet from the counter and said absolutely nothing I had asked so I mentioned I wouldn't mind reading the back of the box myself she stopped talking set it back on the shelf behind the counter and proceeded to turn and completely ignore me. I kinda weirded out was like ok I guess I will just go back to Wal Mart then. I would have just left but my older mother said she was tired and she would just get the few things she needed. I was just wandering over to the water shelf when I noticed a few different workers being overly helpful so I went outside and long behold the cops were out side I was frisked proven to be a valid customer and from the cops was told that they won't shop there being accussed of stealing ain't no joke I don't know if they accuse everyone that looks different like that but I have told several family and close friends about it and no one I no will shop there for anything anymore kinda funny that they think I am a customer that they didn't want but after the business goes into the toilet I bet they will be begging for my and my group of family and friends money.... Who is laughing now I don't judge and I am successfully accomplished maybe they should do some real soul searching and do like the founders used to and like while I was growing up we were treated. U treat everyone with the same respect until they prove not...
Read moreIt’s an overwhelming environment and some areas are difficult to maneuver through. Usually have decent service but my last visit made me stop returning!! My wife and I were the store for about 15 minutes and I brought my service dog in. This was the first time bringing my dog in and my wife encouraged me since we know the laws regarding them regardless of store policy or lack thereof. As were NEXT in line with TWO CANS OF JUICE, a child in front of us approaches my dog swinging a toy, so naturally my dog barks as a warning so I pick her up realizing it’s the kid that’s alerting her. This prompted a very rude and unconcerned employee to come over and yell to us across another check and says we need to either leave or put the dog outside because she barked ONCE. I said that we were next and would be gone anyway but the customers in front of us were making the cashier jump through stupid hoops for them so I’m frustrated since I can’t make it go faster and the employee insists she’s right so I say “you know if you just ring us up then we’ll be out of your hair, but we’re not leaving” and she just glares, rolls her eyes and leaves. Guess it wasn’t much of rule if she didn’t care. But thanks for not helping!! She was short, white, had straight medium length brown hair and never once apologized or even called a manager. So I personally think she had no reason to leave her register that was a good 3-4 lanes away just to harass me. I left with a lot of anxiety, frustration and anger that she had to do that and put me in that situation without any other alternatives to leaving. Since then I haven’t gone back and I have no desire to return just cause of that....
Read moreTL;DR --- Bags are not allowed in this store. If you walk, bike, or take public transportation with your personal belongings in a bag, prepare to jump through hoops to do business at this store.
Upon entering the store, a security guard or employee will follow you and tell you that you need to surrender your belongings at the customer service desk. Simple enough request. I get it. I can guess there's shoplifting at this location and it needs to be addressed or the store won't be able to pay its bills or employees.
I asked if I could leave my bag up at the cash register five feet away from us and was given this whole standard operating procedure. First go to the middle of the store and give my belongings to customer service, pay for my purchases at the front registers, do some awkward u-turn in line (because they have chained and padlocked the other unused checkout lanes to stop smash and grabs), and make a straight beeline back to customer service. Show someone my receipt as proof I wasn't a shoplifter, etc, and then probably vacate the premises immediately (I don't know, at this point I wanted to leave and see where my dignity had gone).
To this GTM Discount General Store, I'm not mad at what you're doing (asset protection), but the way you do it is thoughtless. There is a difference in actions and attitude between "we're protecting our assets," and "you are, very most likely, 90% for sure, an untrustworthy criminal." I promise you, anything else is better than this prison inmate orientation thing you have going on.
Other than that, sometimes prices here can be a steal but I'm not...
