We visit the Ringling Museum often, but the last time was awful. My son was playing on the playground, jumping and having fun with his friend, but at some point, I heard a loud scream. I came closer and saw my three-year-old son's leg covered in blood, with a large bloody piece of glass nearby. He had jumped and landed with full force directly on the glass. It was terrible. He almost lost consciousness from the shock, so I immediately approached the museum staff. They responded by calling an ambulance and providing the museum's doctor. My son's leg was bandaged, and we went home. At home, I noticed that he couldn't stand on his other leg either; there was also a small shard, so I had to remove it and bandage the second leg as well.
I now have very bad associations with this place. And please, if you go there, make sure to watch every move your child makes. Although they provided a doctor, they did not take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the playground, which is included in the ticket price to the city's largest museum. Thank goodness because about half the museum access was closed due to renovations. It's an old fashioned wooden playground with a lot of fun and newer type apparatus included. The huge slide was a hit and so was the saucer swing. There are plenty of tall trees, so the entire place is shaded nicely. My kids didn't want to leave.
