Great Shopping Experience, But Beware of the Credit Card Pitch

I really love shopping at TJMaxx! They always have a great selection of products at discounted prices. However, my experience was marred by the persistent attempts to get me to open a credit card at checkout. I finally gave in, and it was a mistake.

As soon as I opened the credit card (at the same day) my email address seemed to get sold to every spam database imaginable. I started receiving 10-20 emails daily from various brands, including Marshals,Home Depot, Sierra HomeGoods, Home Sense, Double Good and many others. It was overwhelming and unpleasant. I wasn't warned that signing up for the credit card would lead to this barrage of emails.

If TJMaxx could be more transparent about how they use customer information and perhaps tone down the aggressive credit card pitches, I'd be happy to give them 5 stars. As it stands, I'm giving them 3 stars. Maybe it's time to rethink their marketing strategy?

Will I still shop there? Yes. But I'll think twice about opening another...

This TJ's is a more petite version than others -- but it's not an issue at all bc both Homegoods and Marshall's are in the same plaza (+ numerous other discount home & personal goods shops). That said, there is a dedicated jewelry counter along with adequate selections in all the other typical departments. Purse and shoe areas seem at least 1/3 smaller than usual, however I do seem to find things/ designers that maybe are already gone at other locales (perhaps because people are more spread between all the other stores in walking distance?). Anyway, I swear I rarely leave this place...

The cashier Jessica was rude and nasty towards us tonight. She yelled Cashier #1 after we were already walking towards her. She mumbled something under her breath and then snatched the clothes from my hands. Her bad attitude was unprofessional and uncalled for. I hope the manager sees this and will address her bad behavior. I will not shop at this TJMaxx again due to the treatment I received from her & the woman running the dressing room....
