Its position and balance on the plinth is serene yet somehow threatening, as if it rolled to rest here by chance. Huge in mass, one can imagine it even larger, as a small part of an unknowable whole. Picture it like a vertebrae of some anthropomorphic granite machine, or even a diagrammatic section of a churning passage through space filled with swimming creatures.
