I was really looking forward to a massage here. I am six months pregnant and figured with the traveling all the way across the country I would really need a prenatal massage, and it looked like The Massage Sanctuary was the best option. I travelled to Seattle for business and was on a very tight schedule, so I made sure to make my appointment through their very convenient online booking software months in advance to make sure I secured an appointment.
I got a call two days from my appointment, after I had already confirmed my appointment via text, that their employee either no longer works there or no longer works on that day, and that I needed to reschedule. Mind you, I booked the appointment months in advance and there should have been plenty of time to reallocate or contact me.
They finally called me back and I told them I had a very limited availability but could make another appointment work at either 12:30 or 1pm the next day. The person on the phone stated they had a 12pm or a 1:30. I said I could not fit a one-hour appointment within that timeframe as I have commitments until 12pm and at 2:30pm, so I had a very narrow window. The person on the phone stated the available times to me again and I clarified that there is a 60-minute window within those two times and she once again clarified that they can only do the 12pm or the 2:30pm appointment. I said that, unfortunately, I could not make that work and would have to cancel.
By this point, there were obviously no other places who would fit me in last-minute like this. If the cancellation had come earlier I would have been able to make other arrangements. This was very important to me because I was really trying to balance my personal health with the demands of my work and travel. I hope The Massage Sanctuary reads this so a similar situation will not happen to another weary pregnant traveler looking for a...
Read moreEDIT: I felt compelled to improve my review after seeing how they handled my feedback! The owner reached out to me based on my original review (shown below) and worked with me to make things right, offering me a couple options to mitigate the situation which I was satisfied with. There will always be mistakes—I think how a business responds to their customers/complaints is most important. So, you can rest assured your feedback and experience will be listened to and addressed here. Thanks Massage Sanctuary!
Original review: I’ve gotten a massage here twice now, and while the massage itself is nice, I find it really unprofessional and disappointing to not give clients the full time that they pay for. Both times, my massage was cut short by at least 5 minutes.
Today I arrived to my appointment 15 minutes early, I was not taken back to a room until my appointment time (11:30), and the massage started somewhere after 11:35 (I check the time before I lay on the table). The massage stopped by 12:30 sharp — as in, I was fully dressed and leaving the room at 12:30.
I find this unacceptable when I am paying $140, plus tip, for a 60 minute massage. I chalked up the first time to a mess up, but now that it’s happened twice, I won’t...
Read more(I don't get that many massages and they're usually I guess "sports recovery" or relaxation rather than treating a specific concern) I like this place. It is quiet and relaxing inside. I like the ambiance, it is quiet, clean, understated, private, inclusive, and comfortable.
I appreciate that someone working so closely with people's bodies still takes COVID-19 precautions. These folks were a little booked up the last time I wanted one so I went somewhere else where they weren't as cautious and I found it much harder to relax. When taking care of my body i don't want to take risks that harm my body needlessly and put at risk all of the work i am putting into the sports i'm recovering from on their table. I recall them masking without my request and having air purifier on what sounded like a decently high setting. I felt the white noise from it fit with the ambient music just fine and was not...
