Been meaning to try this bakery for a while. Went on a rainy Saturday, around 10am - not too busy. The vibes of the building were on point, inside was nicely decorated, loved the chicken wallpaper in the background. Good music. Warm and inviting lighting. I loved all the seating and upper levels. Service was speedy, staff was friendly. I noticed they were doing a great job at expediting to prevent crowdy and also cleaning up the lobby quite frequently.
I have to say though I was a little disappointed with the goods. We got a bunch of things to try - ham&cheese croissant, apple thingy, french toast, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, pistachio tart.
Ham&cheese croissant - had like a bechamel sauce inside which I wasn't expecting. It was tasty but pretty heavy & the tons of cheese on top weighted the fluffy pasty down making it kinda dense. I couldn't taste the actual croissant.
Apple thingy (Queen Apple?) - the filling reminded me of applesauce but had a sort of metallic taste. Just didn't love the flavor, the texture was alright.
French toast - this was my favorite! Very good, not too sweet, nice caramelization on top (could always use more). Very fluffy and light.
Chocolate croissant - I just couldn't taste the croissant at all. I feel like a good croissant like lingers on your taste buds with buttery flaky goodness, this one had me searching for flavor
Almond croissant - again, just couldn't taste the croissant & I wasn't loving the texture of it. I love a good almond croissant so was a bit let down.
Pistachio tart - this thing I liked a lot but I am partial to pistachio. The fillings were very tasty, not too sweet, great texture. The cream on top was also kinda nutty and I enjoyed it. My spouse and I agreed the crust could use some more flavor.
We got a couple coffees which were very good but all of Seattle has good coffee lol. The breads looked tasty, if I was in the area and needed a good loaf I would try it.
Honestly, for like $9/item we were disappointed. For that money I would go somewhere else & can think of at least 3 or 4 other local bakeries with similar styles that I'd...
Read moreI was excited to visit this place. First time in this AM in town for the holidays. I was raised in Seattle, but have lived in NYC most of my adult life and now go back and forth between Detroit and NY so I’m used to curt/rude service. I go back regardless of bad service as long as the food is amazing.
The tall guy working the counter was good, but the woman with the pink/peach hair it was like I was bothering her, even from my very first interaction. I usually order too much at new bakeries I visit. But the whole energy was off. Didn’t feel welcomed…mind you no one else was in the place just me. Was it bad that I came in at 7:08? I’ve worked retail, I know customers, but my attitude was at the end of my shift not at the beginning. If the customers are bad to me I’m bad to them right back. Was I rude, NO!! If you’re going to be in customer service get it together. First time at an establishment and inquiring about the product and the story behind it. Dull replies they didn’t even know where the owners are from!! I’m not expecting dancing candles…
Two of my best friends are from Ajaccio and Brest so was hoping to meet the owners I’m always up to practicing my French. My friend from Brest is who got me into making kouign amann. I noticed there were curls at the ends of their KA’s. I used to do that when I first started to make them. The sugared bottom was almost like gooey caramel. I’m used to a bit of crunch from slight burnt sugar. My croque monsieur croissant wasn’t bad. They only started in 2020 so give them the benefit of
I was hoping to come back and try other items, but with the customer service and okay...
Read moreI Google French bakery this afternoon after a long morning and midday dilemma at work, and found this bakery, I got lost and traffic didn’t help either it took me 1 1/5 hours just to get to This bakery, almost give up, but I was craving for French pastry, finally got there and Tina was helping with my favorites Kouign-amann and canele’. Tina was so nice friendly and very pleasant. I love her positive and pleasant attitude.
I asked if their canele is moist in the middle she said yes, so I bought canele and Kouign -amann .
My goodness, their Kouign--amann was so .. so.. amazingly delicious, I was in Paris few months ago, I think their Kouign-amann even better that what I had in Paris.🙂🙂❤️❤️ I had tried so many Kouign-amann throughout my life and from different bakeries and different bakeries in different countries that makes kouign-amann, theirs is to die for , the ouside is crunchy and chewy at the same time from caramelized and In the middle has a good texture kind of soft and just memorizing, I regretted I only bought one , ill definitely going back there soon when I’m in seattle. Their canale also very good it’s very moist in the middle as I expected, imagine if you get them just fresh out of the oven.. hmm.. that will be so satisfying..! The ambiance also very cozy, I’ll definitely will take my friends to go there and maybe try other pastry besides Kouign-amann and candle’.
Thank you Tina for your amazing service, also the other girl was very nice as well, so sorry I don’t know her name.
Please let the baker, know I love their pastry.! Thank you so much .! I’ll see you...
