A neighborhood treasure of a park, with diverse topography: a level grassy area with playgrounds and picnic tables adjoining Raye St. at 1st Ave. W.; a rolling central plateau leading to three well-appointed tennis courts; a slope leading to 3rd Ave. W. and adjoining athletic field (Queen Anne Bowl); and heavily wooded areas along the north and southwest sides. A place of small children playing, dog walking, active recreation, and quiet enjoyment. Never overly crowded or noisy. The rare homeless person spending daytime or camping out hasn’t detracted from the park.
Good habitat for squirrels and rabbits; bird life has included owls from time to time. Occasional coyote sightings, so be aware in the wooded areas.

Read moreClean and relatively large park with a playground, swings, tables for picnic and public restrooms. Kids of all ages love to run around, climb trees and explore far corners of this park. Wonderful place to have an outdoor birthday party! Not too crowded during the weekend, almost empty any other day (must be good for meditation, yoga, etc.) I wish dog owners wouldn't let dogs run of the leash here though. Never know if dogs are going to chase running kids ( That's not the dog park and there are rules to follow. Stay safe and come to visit this little gem in the heart...

I thoroughly enjoy walking my dog here. If you are at the park about an hour before sunset, make sure to look up! There are a pair of barred owls who live in the park, and they can often be seen in the tall trees around the...
