EDIT Point 1: in the reply, you said “it actually does say that you can arrive up to 10min early”. READ MY REVIEW. My point is: you SHOULD tell the customer they NEED to arrive early so the precursor (hand washing, intake form, and etc) does NOT bleed into the massage. In your case, you DIDNOT; and it misled the customer to think that there is time buffer for them to arrive ON TIME or a BIT LATER (mine was 5min). Like you said, it should go at least 5min longer than it should. In my experience, it did not. Will I get my 5min massage or money back? NO. So stop making useless comments. I don’t even know why you stress so much on sanitizing the room - I’m not even among the people who complained the environment.
EDIT Point 2: I had many massages elsewhere before - it has always been the standard that they start counting down time from hands on, and they would tell you if you NEED to arrive earlier for intake form etc. In your case, you time the appointment at 5pm and stop immediately at 6pm. It is a 60min massage, and you said yourself there are intakes (not to mention there are other things that need to be done). What are you expecting??? People who arrive on time should take 0min to complete the intake, or they should just sacrifice hands-on time for intakes (not to mention people who really need the massage might take longer time to explain their situation and needs)???? It is literally a SCAM if you choose to NOT inform the customer clearly A PRIORI.
—————— Original review: Somewhere on the reservation website or in the confirmation should say to ARRIVE AT LEAST 10 MIN earlier. Otherwise your session may be cut abruptly at the hour!!! They do NOT have time buffer at all!!!
I had a great emergency session with Michael last time which started at 5:20pm and lasted for the entire 60 mins. It was so great that I decided to book again.
BUT this time, I booked another person (no offense Zach) at 5pm, arrived at 5:05pm, chatted with therapist for 5min (not knowing the time and that they will cut by the hour starting from 5pm), washed my hands and got ready - it started after 5:15min, I was expecting a whole 60 minute countdown from that on. But my session ended abruptly at 6pm! I immediately knew that the massage was way shorter than it was supposed to be. So I asked the therapist - They were like “yeah, I have to cut it at the hour to get ready for the next clients” —— I’m not seeing any customer come in after me. And for business like this, you should leave enough time in between clients.
How come you have no time buffer and do not inform people about this??? To be honestly, this is not a cheap service. It is almost like a SCAM. I lost 15min/60min=1/4 of $120 because of that.
In addition, I would be fine with it if the session is effective. However, I felt no better and even worse after the session. Last time with Michael, it was great and I was able to relax and concentrate after the session. This time, it only leaves pain in my neck, and it is even harder to concentrate afterwards. I cannot believe I paid $120+tips for this level of service.
I will not come back to this place again. Book somewhere else if you are looking for effective massages with...
Read moreLet's start here: getting a massage in the middle of a global pandemic is...nerve-wracking. That said, there's also no more important of a time than when our bodies are storing undue stressors so I booked an appointment the day after the election.
LOCATION:
Having been to the old location, I found Seattle Massage Oasis' new view a wonderful change. Being on the fourth floor of a building on the water gives one a certain sense of peace upon walking into the room, even though you aren't really looking out for the bulk of your massage (it's one-way glass for anyone concerned). Two minor downsides are the music system is Bluetooth which could be better and you can sort of hear muffled voices through the door if someone is checking out, but I find both typical of most massage practices.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:
This is, I think, the most important part of this review. As a hairstylist I feel very strongly that every business I visit should feel SAFE, especially since I am used to enforcing protocols in my own business. Here's why I felt safe at SMO:
very thorough intake form contact tracing enforced not just temperature checks but OXYGEN LEVEL checks as well, which I felt really good about. guests required to wash hands, wear masks at all times (disposable provided for $1 if you don't have ear loop ones), and bottom of shoes sprayed with disinfectant upon entering the space. I later found out HEPA filters were also being replaced every 2.5 weeks no additional charge for their extra measures, which is atypical for most places and which was much appreciated.
SERVICE PROVIDER
David was my service provider and I was able to book same-day. I found out through conversation he had years of experience and it showed in his massage "instincts." He had great bedside manner, coming in and out of conversation off my lead, and also catered to my hour-long service based on preferences (I have a few particularities, like requesting a rolled up towel for my neck). He even offered to take music requests but he had good taste in non-distracting music, so I didn't take him up on this. David's approach sets you at ease right away and I found myself very comfortable; more importantly my body felt decidedly better two days after the service. He wore appropriate coverings when in close proximity, followed all protocols I was expecting upon arrival, and overall was very professional.
Big kudos to Seattle Massage Oasis! Thank you for creating a safe environment...
Read moreI have gotten massages for the past few years almost every other month. I've been to many places in Seattle and in other states, and this is difficult for me to write, but this was probably the lowest quality massage I've ever had. I don't quite understand why this was the case considering so many positive reviews.
First off, the environment wasn't very relaxing. The room decor is cheap. Lots of construction like noises. Room was too bright. Very difficult to relax.
I want to note the rest of what I wrote could just be experience with just the massage therapist I had.
The massage therapist (name starts with an R), originally I booked 90 minutes but was repeatedly asked if I was "sure i wanted 90 minutes" which seemed odd. Eventually I "caved" and said fine let's just do 60 minutes. I'm glad I did because the massage was pretty bad.
For 15 straight minutes therapist worked on just my left shoulder doing the same movement over and over. I had to ask her to switch sides where she continued to do the same movement for another 15 straight minutes. I had to stop her again and clarify that I wanted a full body massage not just shoulders (I thought maybe she had misinterpreted my notes online when I wrote that I had some pain on neck and shoulders). She seemed agitated by my feedback.
I have literally never had to ask a massage therapist to stop/change or really do anything - I'm normally completely silent during a massage. This was the first time I have ever been so displeased.
The rest of the massage was very poor technique. I actually wonder if she has ever been properly trained. Very odd finger movements without enough pressure. At this point I felt too awkward with her to give her any additional feedback.
On top of everything, we ended 10 minutes early, so it wasn't even a full 60 minutes (more like 50 minutes).
Considering how expensive it is, I'll not return. I will simply visit the other massage therapists that...
