Read moreI have divided feelings about my visit here. I recently moved to a place nearby and was super excited to go to the club for one of their events. I attended a Friday night dinner and my experience was mixed, to say the least. Let’s start with staff. The hostess was extremely nice, and several of the waitstaff went out of their way to be kind when they saw our table was unattended. Our server, however, was…not good. I don’t know if they were new or overwhelmed or what, but given they only had three tables of 4 or fewer people, I hope that wasn’t the case. When placing our order, one member of our party wanted the fried chicken. The server mentioned it might take as long as 25 minutes, which seemed long, but we agreed we’d wait. In the end it was 45 minutes before we were served any food. Other servers came to refill drinks and things, but our server didn’t stop by. Once they brought the food, the real disappointment set in. The “fried chicken” that had taken almost an hour was a single, very small drumstick. In the end, it was four bites of food. Four. No exaggeration. And most of that was (admittedly delicious) breading. Everything tasted good, but to ultimately pay $37 with tax and tip for a very tiny plate of food seemed like a lot. So, I suppose folks should know going in that this is somewhere you go for ‘the experience’ and not necessarily for a hearty meal. I still think that overall the service is probably pretty excellent and that we just got unlucky, because everyone else was really nice. So, come for the view and location, but eat before you come and be...
My wife and I met with 2 other couples there on NY Eve to ring in the new year. The Event seemed pretty well organized and well attended but not too crowded at all. The main band downstairs was good, not great, but people seemed to like them. We were a bit disappointed that it wasn't the ABBA tribute band that normally performs there on NYE. It is the "Swedish Club", after all right! The band upstairs was very mellow and would basically put us to sleep . The upstairs bar shut down early as well? An "incident " they said. The food options were OK, not great. Tried the Swedish meatballs of course. Decent but overpriced. The bartenders staff downstairs was fine, however the main bartender was definitely "off his game" that night. All in all an OK night, not too expensive. If they bring back the ABBA tribute band ( Abbagraphs), next new years eve, I believe, we would consider going back. If not then I...
Read moreThis is a very special place. As a child, I was in the childrens club at my local VASA in the Bay Area, California. We learned Swedish crafts and Swedish folk dancing. We wore the costumes provided by the VASA adults. We did all types of performances. Lucia procession at Christmas. Maypole at Midsummer. So many fun memories. Then as an adult, I took my children to the same VASA (which I was now a member of) and I taught the kids Swedish arts and crafts and dancing. I say all of this to say that the Swedish club here was wonderful to see! Many of the traditional costumes on display. Also, there are many activities at this Swedish club! Pancake breakfast, and many other fun activities. I recommend you...
