This building is beautiful. The gothic architecture is a stark contrast to the brutalist architecture of the adjacent Kane Hall and gives life to campus. The reading room (Harry Potter Room) is always an attraction and is also actually a nice place to study in during non-tourist times. It can get pretty congested during the spring months because of the cherry blossoms though, so I usually tend to avoid Suzzallo as a place to study during those times. The stacks are extensive and the library in general has many many resources for the aspiring academic. The Allen Libraries connected to Suzzallo are also nice as it adds a more contemporary space with modern amenities to cater to the needs of the modern day student. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the tendency of these buildings to become tourist attractions. Although I love seeing the public on campus, enjoying the sights and the view, I do wish that UW did a better job of maintaining the spaces on campus to hold students as the priority. Little is usually done when there are members of the general public who tend to be a little disruptive while students are trying to get on...

If you're a library nerd, come here. Suzzallo was built to be a 'church to learning,' and it shows, with its stained glass windows and iron gratings. The library has two components: Suzzallo, which has reference books, microfilm/fiche, and maps, and the adjacent library, Allen, which has science materials and a ground floor open study area. The cafe in the entrance area on the Red Square side has Essential Baking Company snacks, including awesome and flaky chocolate-almond croissants, which have saved me from hunger for many a class. The internet access in Suzzallo and Allen is great, and there is guest access for researching the library if you're not associated with the UW. Be warned that printing can be very expensive, but...
