I stopped by this place to pick up the Gyro, and I had to get the Greek Fries along with that
I’m aware that this place has a reputation for being the classic late night spot for UW students after a night of drinking. While I wasn’t in that state when I had my meal, I can see how it could serve as an unimaginably good intoxicated meal
Firstly on the gyro, I thought this was really good. The outside of the pita bread was grilled well, while the inside was pretty soft. I think I prefer both sides to be grilled, but it was still high quality bread I also really enjoyed the beef inside. It was really plentiful - there were a lot of pieces - and they were also quite flavorful. It was easy to pull the pieces apart and the fat in the meat really came through with the rotisserie-style cooking
Couple small nitpicks, though - I think the lettuce in the middle was a little excessive, and I would’ve liked a little more tzatziki spread on the gyro, as it was slightly dry at parts The feta cheese on here blended in really well with the meat
Moving onto the greek fries, these were the highlight of the meal. A beautiful combination of fries, garlic sauce, and feta cheese combined to create something irresistibly addicting that I couldn’t stop eating despite the huge portion. Each fry was soft without being soggy, and it’s hard to describe how amazing it is when the sauce soaks the fries in the fatty, garlic-y, cheesy, flavor that it possesses. The toppings transformed pretty much all the fries until the very bottom, making the vast majority of this unbelievably good
It’s natural to compare this to Sultan’s Grill basically right across the street, as they both serve very similar food. Here’s my take - as far as the gyro goes, I think I prefer Aladdin’s slightly. While Sultan’s has more sauce on theirs, I think Aladdin’s stuffs more toppings in and addition of feta cheese. Also, the Aladdin’s wrap feels more put together What I think Sultan’s does better though, is the greek fries, and this is primarily due to the amount of garlic & tzatziki sauce they use. The extra amount of sauce gives it that much more flavor that carries it over the top
For the price, I did end up paying around $20 for both the gyro and fries, but it was a significant amount of food, and I definitely got more than my money’s worth for it. Just the gyro by itself is quite filling
Overall, a really good gyro and fantastic greek fries from a place that’s more than just a late night...

This casual take-out joint offers a tantalizing menu that transports your taste buds straight to the bustling markets of the Middle East. We started with an order of the legendary Aladdin Fries – crispy, golden fries smothered in savory shawarma chicken and their signature Greek-style sauce. The combination was nothing short of addictive, with the tender, well-seasoned chicken complementing the creamy, garlic-infused sauce perfectly. These fries alone are worth a visit. we also for the Chicken Grilled Plate, a generous portion of juicy, char-grilled chicken served with a vibrant Greek salad, fragrant basmati rice, and a warm, pillowy pita bread. The chicken was cooked to perfection, retaining its moisture and flavor, while the salad offered a refreshing contrast with its crisp vegetables, feta cheese, and tangy dressing. The real star of the show, however, was the pita bread – freshly baked and still warm from the oven. Its soft, chewy texture was the perfect vessel for scooping up every last bite of the flavorful rice and salad. What sets Aladdin apart is the attention to detail and the use of high-quality ingredients. The spices were well-balanced, the meats were tender and succulent, and the sauces were rich and full-bodied, a true testament to the skill of the chefs behind the scenes. While the restaurant itself is a no-frills take-out spot, the friendly staff and prompt service more than make up for the lack of ambiance. And let's be honest, when the food is this good, who needs...
Read moreI ordered food at 10:30pm and did not receive it until 11:30pm. I ordered one chicken gyro & one veggie plate & tipped $6 (that I wish I could retract), when I arrived there was only one person waiting for his order and no line, there was no rush. I went up to the man who called numbers 3 times in the hour asking where my order was, and mentioning my number, twice he dismissed me saying "just a little longer" and then would walk away and ignore me. Around 10:50 the restaurant became very busy, DOZENS of customers were given numbers and received their food before me I was order #80 & they served past #123 before me. The man calling order numbers in a "ZYN" T-shirt offered excellent service and had time to flirt to an attractive woman and would check others order numbers and bring them in a reasonable time but I was not given this same service! Only on the third time when I said I'd been waiting for 40 minutes did he finally listen and check for my order which apparently disappeared. He came back and said they hadn't started making it and that they would bring it out in 5 minutes at 11:15, my receipt was "lost in the rush." I received a free side dish of un-salted French fries as compensation.
I've been here many times and every time the service has been extremely slow, which is why I was as patient as I was. The food was not even close to being worth that wait, I'll never be...
