I’ve been attending over a year and I can say confidently that this gym is excellent - and I say this as someone who came from working out at a lot more “glamorous” gyms in my former state. It is always spotlessly clean! It’s also HUGE - there are several levels with different weight rooms, stretch rooms, tons of classes and a large weight section. I very rarely, if ever, have to wait in equipment.
The staff is friendly, usually very consistent and I don’t see a lot of high turnover. Always have a lot of towel drops, garbage cans and cleaning supplies handy.
The culture of the gym is also great. It’s a really wide mix of all kinds of people. I’ve seen extremely athletic veterans who attend the gym like their temple work alongside brand new folks, elderly, or people like me getting back into it after life took priority. It’s the perfect balance of not feeling like a meat market but also feels like a serious gym.
They have a ton of family classes and swimming lessons which is great for those with kids, but they are in a separate part of the gym so they don’t overlap or bother adults like me who aren’t child friendly. They have a great kids club that I’m told is very reasonable - again, win win for the parents and the childfree.
The locker rooms are super spacious and I feel very safe here as a woman.
I feel like a lot of the criticism this gym gets for being a bit outdated and having older equipment is harsh. In just a year I’ve seen them make MASSIVE improvements and they are about to get an influx of all new equipment as well. I don’t think people understand how brutal the pandemic was on gyms and how expensive it is to order entire floors worth of equipment.
Bottom line is that I feel like the owners and the management really cares and they are making huge strides to make this gym even better. I’m excited to see what comes up and I’m grateful we have this place in Seattle!
I’ll post some photos of the new stuff once...
Read moreUPDATED:: The manager and sales manager seem very out of touch. The only insurance based fitness program they accept is renew from United Healthcare. If you have any other healthcare, you can’t use your silver sneakers, which is unfortunate because UnitedHealthcare is awful. if you have Blue Shield or Aetna or Humana, you can’t use your fitness benefit here. Who would only support fitness and people who go through United healthcare? They deny claims and their coverage is terrible so I guess that says something about this gym that they are only aligning themselves with the worst insurance company for those with serious healthcare needs. This gym is on the more pricey side so you expect some perks like being able to at least have one member use their silver sneakers benefit and then put the rest of the family on the family membership. This gym would still be getting paid quite a bit for my spouse and teen aged athletic kids. If I were to switch to UNH, my monthly premium would go up and my co-pays would go up and my claims will get denied. My wife has a disability so we need a disability friendly gym and this is not it for many reasons besides just this. It’s sad to see no training training offered to those who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices A gym this size you expect that these days. Instead, they have to pay the price that tech workers pay, and they can’t use their insurance benefit. ** updating to add how disappointing it is that this club only accepts United healthcare Jim plans after seeing how United healthcare has secretly been paying nursing homes to not send patients in need of care to the emergency department. Of all the insurance companies they could’ve selected, it says volumes that this club only accepts United healthcare so I am...
Read moreI had a WONDERFUL experience at this gym until it was time to cancel. It always seems like this is the case with gyms, isn't it?
I canceled back in May/June because of the COVID crisis and because I was moving. I went in, spoke to someone about it, and signed. I was not given a physical copy of my cancellation confirmation nor was I e-mailed a confirmation. I was not told i would be e-mailed, either.
Fast forward to September 1st. What do you know, there's a $59 charge on my card. I called the gym immediately and told them what was up, and the person I spoke to said there was a problem with memberships and that I should get in touch with Chauna (the GM).
I reached out to Chauna who told me there was no record of my cancellation. I had to either mail a letter to the gym (to cancel again) or drive an hour and a half into West Seattle to do it in person. I drove there, canceled again, and was given a confirmation of my cancellation.
I tried reaching out to Chauna afterwards to get refunded over the bogus charge and I've been ghosted over the past couple of days. Someone named Lisa reached out to me and told me I would not be refunded because there was no record of my prior cancellation. So they pretty much told me I was lying and that they're keeping my money.
I don't know what the deal is with these people but gyms are so damn shady when it comes to canceling so I'm chalking it up to that. The staff was super friendly when I was a member and the facility itself was great. I'm really bummed because I enjoyed my time here and I liked supporting a local business over the bigger gyms.
Take what you will out of this review. I had to call my bank and open a dispute because this gym refused...
