I cannot recommend LiSun highly enough to anyone who are looking for help to learn makeup skills for a natural look! I am a simple person. I do not apply makeup on a daily basis, only on special occasions. I tried working with different makeup artists and taking a few makeup lessons, but I was never fully satisfied with foundation color matching to my skin color. I also felt I never really looked like myself after those makeup sessions, and sometimes the makeup no longer sit smoothly on my skin by end of day. I am of Asian descent with combination skin type (oily T-zone). I also tan slightly in the summer, and will quickly lose the tan during winter. I think that was super tricky for some makeup artists to match foundation color while knowing how to handle my skin type simultaneously. I am so glad to have found LiSun! She is not only a talented makeup artist (she nailed my foundation color the first thing at our first session), she is methodical in her step-by-step process and a great teacher at explaining! She made me feel very comfortable asking all kinds of very basic questions during our sessions (Personal Makeup Shopping Experience and 1:1 Makeup Lesson). Shopping with her for makeup products was such a stress-free experience, without feeling anxious or doing guess-works myself when I'm on my own. I love that she is very detail-oriented. She sent out surveys before our sessions to collect background information about me, my skill level, my goals and aspirations. She read through my answers and set the proper expectations with me prior to our first session. LiSun's makeup approach focuses on the needs based on my facial features. She is very flexible: suggesting different sizes tools and giving me tips/tricks suitable for my features and skin type. LiSun is a wonderful makeup artist and she is also an excellent makeup teacher! She is an absolute treasure trove of knowledge and information that she packages into a custom, individualized 1:1 makeup lesson.

To explain, I'm having a destination wedding in just a few weeks and decided to DIY my makeup. I searched for makeup lessons in the Seattle area and was really excited when I found out that LiSun offers bridal makeup lessons. This was a terrific investment because learning tips and tricks from the master is going to last me for years and years and not just for the one day!

LiSun reviewed all my tools, skincare and makeup and looked through ingredients in my products and made appropriate recommendations to make sure that my makeup doesn't look just flawless but also camera ready! She helped me plan my palette and bridal makeup look based on my inspiration photos and my wedding theme. I am so grateful to have her keen eye and advice as a true professional MUA. In terms of the lesson she really explained the steps clearly and let me do a lot of hands on learning in terms of the makeup application. She also has awesome tips and tricks for "bulletproof" makeup so that the makeup really stays and doesn't go anywhere! She made a lot of excellent recommendations for what makeup and tools I could use, and I bought some high quality makeup brushes from her that I expect to have and use for a long time.

What's even more amazing is that after the lesson she really took the time to email me a list of all the products and tools she recommended during the lesson, along with links to places where I could buy it. She let me know that I can send her photos as I practice so that she could keep giving me feedback over email.

LiSun is wonderful! She did my makeup & a simple styling of my hair for a photo shoot / portrait session and she made me look fabulous while still looking like myself which was exactly what I was hoping for with those photos. She's really fun & friendly & super professional!

During our shoot day, after LiSun left, the photographer mentioned some of the tips & tricks she has learned from LiSun as they've worked together and that got me thinking that I'd love to learn about makeup from LiSun too. All my life I've been kind of intimidated when it comes to makeup. I didn't grow up wearing makeup regularly or even playing with it for fun. And somewhere along the way, I had internalized that it was self-centered or superficial to want to use makeup to look nice or feel pretty but at some point within the past year or so, something shifted for me and I'm finally giving myself permission to show up & be seen.

I contacted LiSun and told her I was a complete novice. I didn't even have basic supplies like mascara 😅 but LiSun took care of me!!

We did a personal shopping experience and a private lesson. I now have a full makeup kit & I know what to look for when I buy my own supplies in the future. We walked through everything step-by-step starting with basic skin care/skin prep, then how to do makeup for each part of my face (eyes, face/foundation/blush), and even how to remove the makeup & wash my face properly at the end of the day. I had so much fun & learned a LOT! LiSun is so good, she put me right at ease & made everything really simple for me & I never once felt self-conscious the whole time.
