This was the Mudbug Madness festival . It is an annual thing based on the mudbugs (crawfish)and they have plenty of the crustaceans . There is also music , much of it is zydeco and cajun (I don't even know if there's a difference)but not exclusively southern Louisiana type music . There are also lots of food booths and trucks . Most of the food is cajun but they have fair style things like fungus(funnel)cakes. To go with the bugs they sell enough beer to float a riverboat down the Red River .
I volunteer at many events since I retired . Good way to go to festivals on my limited income , get out of the house , and enjoy being around people . HEY! Retirement ain't all it's cut out to be if you don't have the means to enjoy it . Anyway , I do like doing positive things that involve the community .
Enough of me !

Don't clean the pig and put a ribbon on it . The pig naturally will go back to the mudhole . Please deal with the internal problems , then the outward will...
Read moreI was a performer with #lumpygritsartistry. We performed on the Depot Stage. The Stage manager was kind and helpful with sound check and making sure that we had what was needed. After the performance, my friends and walked around the plaza. The stands were interesting. There were other performances and we enjoyed the concessions. You have to purchase tickets before buying any concessions. I am not sure the price of tickets. Entrance to the Festival is 5.00 per person. The entertainment varies from stage to stage. Tonight, I will see my daughter belly dancing with the Gem Dance Company. Enjoy the concessions everyone. I highly recommend the Loaded Fries from Dripp Donuts. The donuts are great also. My friend enjoyed the Natchitoches Meat Pie from another stand. The Funnel cake was delicious, also. If you enjoy Festival food, any stand will be there. Don't care about calories, you will...
