We're at the six month mark. Never any response whatsoever, but believe you me that Boyd's and Sam's Town are still sending me marketing material to get my gambling dollar. Yeah, no. You got your fifty seven dollars, and that's all you're gonna get.
It's been t̶w̶o̶ t̶h̶r̶e̶e̶ f̶o̶u̶r̶ f̶i̶v̶e̶ w̶e̶e̶k̶s̶ three months.
I responded to the link provided by the owner. Nothing. Crickets. I guess I'm too small to matter.
I have completely given up on getting any response from the managers who asked me to reach out. I also haven't been back to Shreveport. I've since just been flying to Nevada and staying at non-Boyd properties to much greater satisfaction.
I feel like sending each of those managers fifty seven dollars for Christmas as they seem to need it so badly.
I want to start with saying that on this past visit, I had two of the best casino bartenders I have ever enjoyed the privilege of meeting -- Tyler and Allison. Both were just amazing running the bar, customer service, and entertaining banter. Chef's kiss to both of them.
Now then -- onto the impenetrable wall of non-existent customer service on the hotel side.
I booked a standard king room with the hotel. The day before arrival, I got an email to check-in online. Apparently, in that check-in process, there was a box that asked, "Do you have a birthday wish for your stay?" as my birthday had passed just a couple days prior.
As it has been relayed to me, though I have zero memory of doing so, I wrote something along the lines of, "A birthday room upgrade would be great!"
When I arrived at the hotel to get my room key, the woman said they had me in a junior suite. I was visibly surprised by this, and said, "No. I booked a standard king room."
She responded, "Oh, they upgraded you for your birthday."
I was appreciative and thanked her and proceeded to enjoy a nice two-night stay.
When I got home, I opened up my folio and found that I had been charged for the room upgrade.
I tried calling that day, and was told that I would have to speak to a hotel manager who wouldn't be back until three days later. I got sent to his voice message, and left a message with my name and contact information.
I called back three days later, he still wasn't there, and I got voice mail again.
I finally got a shift supervisor who immediately began raising her voice with me citing the alleged request for an upgrade that is was MY request and that SHE WOULDN'T ARGUE WITH ME.
At this point, I'll admit I lost my cool, said, "We're done," and dropped a profanity before hanging up.
I've still not heard from the hotel manager.
Nothing. Not a word.
Congrats -- you baited and switched me out of fifty seven dollars. The last fifty seven dollars you will ever get out of me.
Bummer because I finally reached a players club tier with some benefits, and the casino staff are fantastic.
I've scouted out Bally's next door, and am likely to either switch over to them on future visits or return to the Bossier side where more is going on outside the casinos anyway as the river district on the Shreveport side has become little more than a ghost town of homeless people sleeping on the benches.
So long Sam's Town. Boyd Gaming holds some of my favorite properties in Vegas, but due to your insolent hotel staff in Shreveport, I won't patronize your Vegas...
Read moreMy trip to Sams Town casino was a spontaneous one; I was actually heading to Jackson Mississippi to make a segment of their food spots but I had found a deal on Travelocity for this hotel/casino. The parking garage is a little far if you’re rolling in heavy luggage so I illegally parked in the front, turns out that I walked about the same distance to get to the hotel reception area. I was confronted by security for recording myself in the front of the entrance, hence, outside. You are welcomed by the locals just outside the entrance and they might ask you for some money or an article of clothing. Once you enter the doors, the ambiance changes from a homeless retreat to a full-blown casino scene with the extravagant restaurants. Yet, it was quite empty for the size of the restaurant area. I’m sure when there’s an important game or fight, it must get lit (maybe). It took about 30 min. For the travelocity book-in to reflect on their system. In the meantime, I parked my car in the garage and walked the long ways with my luggage. The receptionists were polite and helpful, one was extra nice actually, and was interested in my vlogging adventures. The way to the room was pleasant, and when I did manage to go into the room, it was just what I expected. The temperature was perfect and the room was spotless. There was a slight outdated feeling about the hallway and room but for the price, I couldn’t expect anything better. The king bed was like laying on a cloud, a little too soft for my taste but perfect to lay and relax with your phone or tablet. The purpose of my stay was for the room, not the casino, but I couldn’t resist to take a look around. I’ve been to a few casinos before and this might’ve been the smallest out of all of them. I sat down on a slot machine and played a few dollars, they were already eyeing me from recording the entrance so I wasn’t going to risk another episode inside the casino. So I waited ‘til the morning to record :D. They were quite strict about vaping and moving around the slots. I knew I wasn’t going to come out with any earnings so I just really went for the experience. I felt tense due to the security and the visitors were not the upscale type that you’d like to mingle with. I was able to record some interior shots in the morning, but it was nothing too impressive. The checkout was easy and I felt refreshed in the morning. I give this place 3 stars as an...
Read moreI decided to stay here on my trip into Shreveport as I normally like to gamble at night after attending to business and family events.I decided to give this hotel a try regardless of some of its negative reviews due to all the positive feedback as well. As someone who travels alot I will say this is probably one of the grundest hotels I have stayed in. While I did feel safe it was just not for me. While the rooms are dated and I knew that prior to booking, what I was not expecting was how dirty the room was. I was so grossed out by the room I was nervous to leave my stuff anywhere in the room. It presented as clean from a distance but it was disgusting. The shower had dirty stuff all over the bottom of the shower, the water smelt so horrible to even shower in and had a very distinct smell. The shower current my gosh had stains all over the inside and im pretty sure it hadn't been washed since 1990. Thank God I could smell the bleach on the fresh towels. The bed looked nice until I tried to cover up and it had patches of hard stuff all over the blanket. Pretty sure it had been some type of body fluid. I was absolutely petrified that I went and bought my own blanket from a store to sleep with and stripped the bedding from the bed. Pretty sure the mattress was at least 20 years old and hard. I was so nervous that id have the same results with a new set of sheets and blankets i didnt even bother asking.Thank god i didnt see any type of bugs.
Let's talk about the air conditioner and how hot it was in there. Serious its the south and its hot,for goodness sake having a room that has air conditioning working is vital. I had to also buy a fan to not die of heat. With the heat I needed water and big suprise there is no room service. The soda machines were out of water and I had to go downstairs to restaurants to purchase water or even bring in water from the convenience stores. I couldn't find the fridge in the room for the first part of the trip. Its hidden in the dresser. I found it the last night by hearing it go off. Elevators smell like weed consistently as well.
Overall this was literally the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I'm willing to give benefits of the doubt and have a little grace but it was very much displayed that there are no standards for cleaning and maintenance in this hotel. I will never give my business to this hotel again and hope that they do look at improving...
