Not being a resident of South Bend and only having visited for a weekend to take in a few ND hockey games, I wasn't abundantly familiar with the general area around Eddy Street Commons. We came here during part of the Saturday prior to the 2nd game over the weekend to grab lunch.
What is most striking about the general area of Eddie Street Commons also aligns with one of the notable features of the Notre Dame Campus itself, that being the effort put into the overall aesthetics. I almost had a hard time distinguishing the campus from the Commons on account of the overall structure of the buildings and the degree to which the brick matched that used by the University.
The other great feature for the area is the large parking garage. We were able to find a spot easily and walk to Brothers Bar for lunch. Not much more to say than it was easy to park and get right into the general area.
On the whole, I like the effort put into making this area blend well with the University. Though there are still some standard chain restaurants (Chipotle, Starbucks, etc) there's no other real identifying material on the building facades than the signs themselves. The area is easy to walk through on account of the large sidewalks and was clean when we visited. I can definitely envision spending time in this area again on a...

Read moreIt's okay... just okay. The first picture is the bathroom hand dryer. Nothing in this bathroom looks to have been cleaned in a long time. The 2nd picture is the wall of our table - covered in old food. Most of the burgers and only the burgers are $12 - 13. Fries are another $2 and drinks another $3. Plan on about $20 a person for a basic average burger. There is nothing that stands out with the food. Everyone gave a solid 3 out of 5. Our service was fine, the hostess did not provide a kids menu even though we had a kid. We were not upcharged for a gluten free bun which brought this rating from a 2 to a 3. It's just an okay place.
