I LOVE Reed Canal! It's a multi use park with a really nice playground for the kids, a dog park, and a walking path.
It also has a disc golf course which is why I go there. The city provides really good maintenance for the entire park and keeps it well groomed and the local disc golf club does a really good job with aiding the city with course maintenance.
The disc golf course is one of my favorites and is beginner friendly. You will hear some of the bigger arms complaining about it not being very challenging and for those of you who are able to throw 400 plus feet I can see the reasoning. But for those of you who DON'T have a big arm and, like me, struggle with getting your disc to go much farther than 200 feet, the course can be a lot of fun.
The front nine is rather wooded (there are palm trees EVERYWHERE) but the back nine opens up a bit. Holes 10-13 are kinda long but are still pretty easy to make par on and 14-18 are pretty short which make for some very makeable ace runs.
The only real problem I have (and it's a nit picky one) is that the dog walkers seem to think it's beneath them to pick up after their pooches along the walking trail and in the disc golf area after they do their business.
Overall, I highly recommend this course/park and can't say enough good...

Read moreThis is a good park but the park service has been very lacking in their maintenance of the kids play area. The chains on the swings are wearing out and breaking and there has been nothing done to repair them. There are also a number of other pieces of equipment that have broken and creating a safety hazard for the children who play there. It is nice to see that they have installed an emergency call button but it has been placed so low and close to the play area that kids are constantly pushing the button and calling the police for false alarms. The paved walking path and disc golf area are well maintained and there is usually a couple groups playing there throughout the week.
February 9 2022 Update most of the needed repairs have been made but they have left one of the openings from the equipment without any way down except to fall. I have removed the pictures of the repaired equipment and added the picture of the...
