Halloween Depot — Attraction in South Gate

First of all let me start by saying that I never write reviews but I had to make an EXCEPTION for this one.

Everytime I need to make a purchase I always do my research and read all reviews possible. I stumbled upon them and read they had good reviews. Also a couple of bad ones but decided to give them a try either way. We arrived at the store and were greeted by a young lady at the register. The place has a variety of good selections and we couldn't be more excited! I tired on a couple of costumes but I wasn't so convinced of them. When I finally decided on the one I wanted, I took my size which is a small BUT decided not to try it on as I was already exhausted from trying the other ones and I needed to make my way out. I figured well, I'm a size small and it should fit me just fine. I didn't even think of looking at the merchandise itself to look for defects (which I should have) but I was sure I was buying something NEW AND IN GOOD CONDITION. I spent $80 just to come home and find out that the zipper of the costume is broken and is stained in yellow. I immediately called the store to ask if they can help me out and exchange it for another one that's not damaged but got denied. I explained to them my step by step and they advise for me to call back because they were going to check the cameras from when I was there. I wasn't really sure what that had to do with anything but I agreed. I called back 2 hours later but got denied again. The manager himself told me to take it to get it fixed because they were not going to do anything about it. I literally wanted to cry because I spent so much on something that is not worth it. I'll be spending some more by getting it fixed but I mean what else can I do? These people don't appreciate their customers and business at all. Save yourself a hassle and go...

First of all the moment you walk in thinking, “wow this is such a cool Halloween store!” You start getting followed right away by ALL the employees making you feel EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE! Making it seem like I’m a thief when clearly I went there to spend my money. You would think by this point the employees would ask if “you are finding everything ok?” But no they continue to act dumb and follow you through the store. You will notice a tall man hanging around by the name of Tony which is the manager, he also did not once acknowledge his customers but yet instead make them feel not welcome. Such a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! To top it off I did end up purchasing a VERY OVER PRICED costume, so no need to follow your customers around like that (:

Loved this place! Here’s what makes Halloween Depot really good.

1. they let you try on costumes. Other stores like Party City and Spirit have a cranky tennager telling you what items you can and can’t try on. Hello?? I’m the one buying it so I should see how the entire costume looks on me. The owner allows his customers to try the whole costume on and doesn’t bother you once while you are in the dressing room.

2. it’s family owned. This is a place where you can just come and hear some nice tunes, hang out with your friends and try on costumes or chat with the owner.

3. it is open late. Most places close at 8 pm while Halloween Depot closes at 10 pm.

I will definitely be coming back every year to buy my costumes here. Don’t waste your time at other places and come...
