EDIT: Rockler reached out to me to inform me that theyâve had similar complaints recently from other customers and that theyâre replacing their sharpening service. They also offered a refund which I didnât except or ask for, which is massively appreciated. Updating my review to 5 stars thanks to fantastic customer service, and as I said the store itself and all the services they offer in-house have been perfect.
DO NOT USE THEIR SHARPENING SERVICE
Great store, fantastic selection of products and the staff are fantastic with advice and setting you off in the right direction on projects. Biggest issue is their sharpening service. They send your tools offsite to a 3rd party who apparently have no idea what theyâre doing. I gave them a carving hatchet and 12 hand tools and they came back to me 3 weeks later after they forgot about my tools. The tools came back to me stained with oils and water damage and werenât sharpened at all. Using a bench grinder the whole process should have taken MAYBE 2 days, but I was away for a work trip and wanted to come home to sharp tools. $110 for 12 pieces that came back in worse condition than I sent them out. That will teach me to never shop out...
Read moreThe best place to go in Maine for woodworking supplies and advice! The staff here are all very knowledgeable and pleasant. There's a great selection of power tools, lumber, accessories, you name it. Anything they don't have in stock can be ordered for you in no time.
In one of my visits I had the pleasure of speaking with the national sales manager for Rockler, a nice gentlemen based out of the Midwest who goes around the country checking on Rockler stores and making sure the service is top-notch. He was a pleasure to talk to, and even took the time to answer some questions I had regarding wood finishes. I never would have expected such service from a high-level corporate guy, but I guess Rockler does go the extra mile from the top of the company on down!
My only complaint is the damage my bank account has sustained since discovering...
Read moreThis store is terrible and I avoid it unless I absolutely need something (which they inevitably don't have in stock).
Literally every time I go here i leave cranky after being jaw boned about giving them my phone number and being upsold some useless gadget at the register.
This was all prologue to my recent experience though. I had them sharpen a tablesaw blade and they completely destroyed it. Whoever did the work ground too much material and misaligned the teeth so it literally cuts worse than when I sent it in. I found a local person to look at it and he's not sure if there is even enough material left to fix it. Also, this isn't like a cheap jobsite blade, this was a Forrest ww2 and is designed to be sharpened 3 or 4 times.
Avoid this...
