UUCS is a welcoming congregation, to all religious faith followers and backgrounds, to those who follow no faith, to those seeking their own path, and anyone else who may wander through the doors. This church founded the Upstate Pride Parade which has since blossomed into the Pride Festival, and held the inaugural Spartanburg Earth Day Festival. It provides a Religious Education program that actually seeks to educate participants in ALL faiths, not just our own. We host a diverse pulpit that not only features our own minister, but is shared with other religious leaders, educational speakers on informational and historical topics, and even our congregants at times. This church encourages free thought, openness, acceptance, and dialogue. I think our congregational covenant says it better than I ever could:

Read moreI thoroughly enjoy coming to the church. There is a unique cast of characters that attend but everyone is so welcoming and kind. I love speaking with people who are involved in the community. I enjoy attending because I get to meet people who are good influences on my characters. I grew up going to church. He asked us to forgive him and for him to forgive us.
I went on a litter clean up with them! That is what the...

I was greeted at the door and made feel at home the whole time! The worship songs were beautifully done and included songs like Stevie Nicks, Landslide as well as This Little Light of Mine. The topic was honed in to honoring the different ages we have been that got us to where we are today and acknowledging the memorable, meaningful experiences us humans have throughout our years here. There was complimentary coffee and a full snack bar after. Including delicious cupcakes! Childcare was provided by a wonderful, youthful staff. The congregation is diverse, vibrant, and uplifting. I am certainly happy to have...
