Hub City Chicken & More — Restaurant in Spartanburg

I've known Bubba since 1969, so I may be a little biased. The chicken tenders are plump and juicy and huge. Two of them should easily make up a whole chicken breast.

I've been a fan of fried chicken livers since my dad introduced me to them in my early teens probably before. But they have to be done right or else I will reject them outright. This is currently the only place in Spartanburg where I will trust them enough to try the livers I am absolutely done with everybody else and their quality and the bitter taste.

The sweet potato crunch is to die for and I've had it around the country and nothing compares. Yes, it's that good, go get you some! All of the sides are great and the onion is like a blooming onion from that steakhouse place. Green beans just like I like them just like my mom used to make.

Covid was really rough on small businesses and this place certainly was affected. Bubba keeps this great food flowing.

Pretty much the same people working there. Just as friendly and of course the food is just as fantastic.

If you are in Spartanburg don't miss out on this little gem of a place just South of the crossroads of East Main and Pine Streets.

Edit: I've had to lower my review due to the disappointing experiences I've had the last several visits. For example, last night the chicken tasted like it had been sitting in oil for too long, or the oil was too old. It was not at all good. The sides were terrible. The lady at the drive thru was barely understandable, and the speakers were so on max volume so it was very unpleasant.

Previous review: I go here ALL the time. They are very close to my house, so it's ultra convenient. 80% of the time the chicken is hot and crispy and tastes great. I've had a couple "duds", but that just comes with the territory of being a frequent guest.

Although I'm a huge fan of the chicken, I have found most of the side dishes to be unremarkable. Perhaps my palate is too limited, or that I'm not ordering the right ones, but I don't find them good enough to keep ordering. I'll try to try a couple new ones and see if I can edit my review in the future. But hey, they already have 5 stars from me, so....

I used to drive by this place and contemplate trying it but I was never sure if it was open. On the outside it doesn’t look the most appealing and their drive thru menus appearance definitely made me hesitant but my boyfriend suggested trying them out the day we moved so we wouldn’t have to cook that night and I gotta say it was definitely worth it! Him, I and the baby devoured our food 😂 I returned another time because their hamburger steak was literally the BEST I’ve ever had and my food was mistakenly given to another customer by a new employee. The manager comped our meal offered replacements and even threw a few extra sides in because we had to wait almost an hour. This place is definitely an example of not judging a book by its cover.
