The Great Northern Clock Tower in Spokane’s Riverfront Park is a cherished historic landmark thanks largely to Jerry Quin, who led the “Save Our Stations” campaign in 1972 to prevent it’s demolition. Quin’s effort ensured this iconic piece of Spokane’s railway history remained intact. Standing since 1902, the tower was saved just in time to grace the grounds for the 1974 World Exposition, adding to its significance. Surrounded by scenic path and the Spokane River, the tower’s timeless charm and gentle chimes make it a must see, offering a tangible link to the city’s rich past and a tribute to preservation efforts.

Beautiful views of the Great Northern Clocktower, river, and park. Watching at sunset is very enjoyable, as I’m sure it is at all times of day. I love seeing all the geese, and they are very happy to come introduce themselves and ask for a snack. I didn’t have a snack for the geese, but I did enjoy the view with a cookie I’d brought from my hotel. Perfect area any time of day.

Beautiful tower on the river. This is a very mice area to take a walk and enjoy magnificent views. There are some homeless people in the area, but they don't bother you. Nice safe park/area to enjoy a walk at all hours of the day.

The only part left of the Great Northern Rail Depot, completed in 1902 is this 155 feet tall, four-sided lock. Once a week, a technician climbs the 5 stories to adjust the time, and wind the crank 99 times to ensure for the next week, it works. Interestingly, the tower has never had bells but relies on a digital...
