We went for the Pixies and Modest Mouse show. The venue is cool but I have some tips for parents bringing children or attendees under the age of 21. Keep in mind this is the only time I've been so your experience may vary.
My number one suggestion is show up early unless you don't mind having a lousy view of the stage. There were three viewing areas for this show. The floor where people stood (some might call it the pit) was 21 and up only. This is the opposite of pretty much every concert I've ever been to where the floor is usually general admission and the place that under 21 attendees have to stand. If you can't be on the floor you have to either be in the lower terrace or the upper terrace. The upper terrace is VERY far from the stage and there are many obstructions including railings fences and even concrete pillars that interfere with your view of the stage. If you get there early enough the lower terrace is where you want to be.
You can bring low folding chairs (legs no longer than 12"), blankets, and even food into the venue. The food selections were ok but pricey with food trucks being the source. I was able to see what food trucks were going to be there by looking at the pavilion website ahead of time. The real crime was the cost of alcohol. It was $16 for a 16oz can of beer from No-Li and the same price for 24 oz cans of yellow beer. Wine and hard seltzer was the same price. Save money on food by bringing your own so you can afford a couple drinks.
The bathrooms are just porta-potties and the hand washing sinks were out of soap within an hour. Bring some hand sanitizer if you're worried about it.
We saw some people outside the fence sitting on folding chairs who were just there to hear the music. They had no view of the stage and I'm sure the sound wasn't as good but it's a no cost way to hear your favorite band play.
All in all I was a little disappointed in the venue but I know it would have been better had I gotten there earlier and managed to secure a spot on the...
Read moreAwesome new venue for outdoor concerts and events. I went to the Primus concert on 08/13, and it was a great show at my new favorite venue. The layout allowed for several types of concert experiences: a large floor area in front of the stage for die-hards and moshers, a lower level grassy area for those wanting a slightly more mellow experience on a comfy blanket, an upper grassy area, perfect for those wanting to enjoy the music with an even more mellow vibe, and even an exclusive balcony-like concrete terrace for a birds-eye view of show (if you're willing to fork out some extra $$$ for the privlidge. I feel fortunate to have been there for the new Pavillion's first musical event, and look forward to many more in the future.
The only downside to the experience was the $14 cans of beer and $4...
Read moreWhat an amazing venue to watch a show. Not only is the venue itself amazing especially with the lights on the cone above your heads but the Acoustics are great, the seating is great, and it is in a beautiful location in the middle of the Spokane River park. And I can't forget to mention the awesome gluten-free donuts. I would highly recommend anyone who's never been here to see a show here. The staff was friendly and helpful and I want to call out Sierra, the girl working the ADA section, she went above and beyond to make sure everybody's time...
