After 35ish years using Walgreens MacArthur, I couldn’t handle their unreliability any longer and switched to Koke Mill.
I’ll begin with why I gave them a second star: (a) the pharmacy is clean; (b) the drive-through is easy to navigate. You can usually pull out of line when you’re fed up with the wait—unlike at MacArthur where you’re stuck like a pearl in a clam with lockjaw; (c) there are a few lovely employees amid the surly ones. There is no (d).
After 3 months at Koke I concluded that it’s the corporation of Walgreens which is the problem. For 12+ years I’ve been on a medication that I must not stop taking abruptly or I’ll get very sick, very quickly. But, just like MacArthur the Koke WG was also out-of-stock of my med every month. [Note: it is not a med on the short supply list.] Walgreens would have to order it and then it typically took 2 or 3 days to get in. After the third month of this in a row, I switched to HyVee where I’ve had ZERO problems.
On top of their pharmaceutical competence, HyVee’s staff has been uniformly kind and helpful rather than surly. At times Walgreens staff acted as if I was unreasonable for wanting my Rx without interruption. I’ll never understand why they couldn’t order my med so it would be available every month; their computer clearly shows that I’ve refilled it every 30 days for the last 152 months. After all, if I’m late filling my as-needed skin cream that I use infrequently, they send infinite reminders. 🤷♀️
Ok, that’s all. Sorry for venting ten years’ worth of frustration especially since it’s my fault for feeling some weird loyalty to them and not...
Read moreI came in to get my prescription filled around 8:00 a.m. And was told to wait for an hour. After an hour I came back and they told me that the cost would be around $250. For some reason they had no record of my medical insurance I gave them my medical insurance and they told me I had to get a specific brand and a come back in an hour. I came back in an hour and they had forgotten about my order. They fhen told me to wait another hour before that would be done. After this I came back and they did not know if they had the medication that I need to get so I would have to wait another 20 minutes. I'm currently waiting my car in the parking lot wondering if I should just get my prescription back and go to another pharmacy. Also it's currently 1:45 pm I've wasted half my...
Read moreThese guys have really gotten worse in the past few months. Not unusual to have your prescription out of stock. When that happens, you get a message that says if you need your prescription today, call the pharmacy. I did that only one time and was told to call around to different pharmacies to find one that had it in stock and then call them back to transfer the prescription. What’s the use of using a network of pharmacies like Walgreens if they don’t have the ability to tell me who in their network has it in stock? I’m currently waiting on a prescription I requested to have delivered to me 1-2 business days. Its status has been “Ready for FedEx” for two days now. Don’t they have FedEx pick up at least once a day,...
