Been here four times, so this is not a one-off. I called in advance to try and make sure that I'd have adequate time to shoot as I was coming in late in the day. Called twice, hit the extension to talk to a representative, no answer. Got there, they tell me they're open until 8. Great. Plenty of time. Then I get my gear inside and they tell me that they cease fire at 7:45. Not a big deal, but not good news. Could have known that earlier, like when I called. Check IDs, ask if I'm law enforcement or CCW holder. No, but I'm a veteran if that helps. This gets a noticeable eye roll. They ask to check my guns. I know they do this. No problem. The first one has their chamber flag inserted and the bolt removed. Can't be safer. The guy roughly closes my case and asks if I have anything else, I say yes, and I open a pistol case. He asks if it's loaded, I say no. He asks again, I say really no. He puts it under the counter to check, puts it back in the case and starts pulling my ammo out of my bag without asking. I help, handing it all to him. He puts a magnet to it and asks why it sticks. I say because it's Soviet surplus. He says, in the most condescending way possible that he will hold onto it or we can put it in our car. I tell him that's all the ammo we have. He says that they have ammo for sale, $1 a round. I ask if it's match grade ammo (I know it's probably not.) He hmms around for a second before telling me that it's not. I tell him that I'm not paying match grade prices for reloads, and I'm not shooting at his range. He seemed happy to have me leave. Just to be clear, I taught shooting for the military for a while. Most of my friends ask my opinion before they buy a firearm, and I'm always on the lookout for a good range with a good selection of rental guns, which Fieldtime has. My friends usually buy where we rent. However, I will not be giving them...
Read moreBest shooting range in OC for sure. I go there and I always like to take new shooters with me. I think I have good experiences because I read through the rules and practice extreme firearm safety. Before I even bring anyone with me to the range, I go over the rules and safety procedures at home with whoever I'm bringing. I have never had a range officer come up to me or anyone around me to tell me we're doing something wrong. I've never had a range officer breathing down my back. In fact, the first time I was here, the people at the counter had us check in with the range officer. The range officer at that time was awesome and I wish I could remember his name to give him the full credit he deserves. I remember he is a very tall, and slightly older gentleman with blond hair. He was awesome and very kind. The range itself is very good. It is very clean and well ventilated. The stalls themselves are well lit and have very nice and easy to use controls. At check ins, I like that they check firearms because it will weed out the unsafe people from the safe crowd. For those of you leaving the bad reviews, you are clearly doing something wrong and must be from the orange county sub reddit or Twitter except for the guy who's date was being hit on. I would have let the staff member know what's up (verbally and civilly). Other than that though, this is my go to range. They allow rifles, shotguns, and pistols. For shotguns, you do need to use FT3's shells and targets just a heads up. They will not allow you to use your own even if it's the exact same...
Read moreI really enjoyed this Indoor shooting range. It has 28 lanes and you can shoot out to 25yards with electronic targets that you can move to exact distances. Dani, the range master, was very nice. She was able to assist my mother with how to better shoot her pistol in a friendly way that made her feel more confident.
Noise level was okay however .223 is loud in any indoor range. The air system was top notch so you werenât too hot and the air was clean. There is a large back bar area along the wall with a seat so if you are sharing a lane you have a place to put your stuff or rest between taking turns.
I will say get there at opening because we showed up at about 10 minutes after open with only a 2-3 group wait in front and got on the range within 15 minutes. As we were going into the range, about 10:30am the line was out the door. We briefly exited the range for more targets and the whole lobby was filled with folks waiting.
This location has a very nice roomy range, excellent lobby (if you have to wait) and the prices were good. Parking is limited and we had some jerk box us in despite the property management blocking out the spot. So the only negative is management doesnât watch its parking area very well which caused me problems.
Itâs located in an industrial area so definitely go by GPS rather than the vandalized street signs or you may miss it like we did initially.
All in all, I am excited to return and have more fun at the range. Thanks again to Dani for really making our time fun and...
