Uptown Cheapskate State College — Attraction in State College

" Uptown Cheapskate " is such a funny name for a store where everything is expensive. A large majority of their inventory is worn out clothing from Shein. If you aren't a size 0-8 don't get excited about shopping here. It's very clear what size this store is catering towards. Seriously I can't believe anyone shops here. Shein and Walmart aren't " big brand names". Just another fast fashion dumping ground cemetery. It's glaringly obviously that this store is for a certain demographic when they shove all the 8,10,12,14, etc sizes in the far back of the store. Sometimes if you're lucky on the bottom of the rack underneath all the S-M clothing. ( That and the  "selection" is extremely limited and frumpy.) I will say the store is very clean and well organized and the employees are friendly. If you're a size 0 you'll have no trouble finding cute fast fashion used clothing in your size. The background music in the store is LOUD and an obnoxious mix of late 00's club music. ( And no, I'm not old I just like to be able to think while I shop and not have my ears accosted by Pitbull;) ) I've been here a few times and it's always completely abandoned with maybe 1 other customer. All the people raving about " affordable priced clothing" makes me think they don't understand that overpaying for used and cheaply made clothing that will fall apart after a few washes isn't affordable for people who don't have a trust fund and daddy's credit card. If you're looking for good prices and cute stuff look elsewhere. Everytime I've been desperate enough to shop here I've left empty-handed and...

I always love visiting Uptown Cheapskate! Upon entering, you are greeted by a friendly face, a warm smile, and a genuine "Welcome in!" Today, I visited with my friend, looking for some business casual clothes for a new job I'm starting in a few weeks. We had a wonderful time, but I only left with 2 cardigans that are suitable for the office. I would love to see more of that style, in addition to the fun and funky (which I did also purchase: an outrageous pair of bell-bottoms!) I do have to search, which means I should visit more frequently, 😸 because I wear an XS in most items, and those are hard to find for a 52 year old woman. The environment is relaxing, the encouragement of not using plastic bags, and the points system are big wins for me. I've only tried to sell clothing once, and just a few items were bought: probably because I don't own many 'trending' articles of clothing. That's ok with me, I'll keep...

Staff was so kind and friendly 😊 The variety in merchandise was top notch. There's so much to choose from while being spacious and welcoming. I've not purchased new jeans/pants in the last two years as it's always such an unpleasant experience finding something that fits well. I was in there less than 15 minutes and had already found, tried on and was clenching, two pairs that were the most perfect fit!!!! 🥰 Aaaannd I hadn't even realized they were on sale so I'd spent way less than I'd expected as well!!!
