Paiement uniquement en espèces. Prix raisonnables. Délicieux et copieux. N'hésitez pas ! Toilettes propres. Cash only. Reasonable prices, but very, very large portions! Delicious food. I ordered the General Tso's chicken dish with steamed white rice. The sauce was sweet and spicy. The chicken was cut into fairly large pieces that made them difficult to eat in one bite. I ended up cutting them to make it easier to eat with chopsticks. The rice was slightly sticky, which made it easy to eat with chopsticks. I was very hungry, but I could only finish half of my meal. My son ordered the braised beef noodle bowl. His beef was also cut in large slices, but they were easier to pick up. He also enjoyed his meal, but he was less hungry and could only finish a third of his. Big Bowl Noodle House definitely deserves its name! If we hadn't been on a road trip, we would have taken the extra food home. Also, the restrooms were clean. In fact, they were so clean that I thought about taking a picture to post. The signs in the restrooms were written in both English and Chinese. The restaurant is also very clean. We didn't interact with the staff much, but they seemed friendly and efficient. I recommend Big Bowl...
Read morePassed through the area on a roadtrip and stopped for some Chinese/Taiwanese food. Really pleasantly surprised by how good it was! We had:
Pork and Century Egg Congee 5/5 This was a classic and really delicious congee. It definitely hit the spot after driving for a while. Big portion but it was so good I scarfed it down in no time.
Wonton Soup 5/5 Wontons good, soup good. What more can you ask for?
Chicken Fried Rice (takeout) 4/5 Chicken fillet was crispy and fried rice is just your average fried rice. Perfectly fine, but nothing stand out. Probably wouldn't get it again, not because it was bad but just because the other dishes were so good.
Also got jasmine milk tea with boba which was good too. Sweetness level was just right, not too sweet.
Plenty of street parking. Service was quick and efficient. Staff was super nice and very friendly even though we arrived and dined in later at night. Talked with them and learned that they've been open for 20 years! And I can see why. Portions are big, the food is great, and for the price it's amazing. Will definitely be back when we're in State College....
Read moreAs a freshman, I gave Big Bowl a rating of 4 stars for its good food. The dishes are large, cheap, and very tasty. Now as a senior, I'm bumping up Big Bowl to the full 5 stars. I've eaten at almost every restaurant in State College, but Big Bowl is the one I always come back to. Did the dining commons close? Let's go to Big Bowl. Can't decide on a new place to try? Let's just go to Big Bowl. This place is like a second home to me. Whenever my stomach needs to be filled with something good, the white bearded guy and the asian lady are waiting for me downstairs.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I recommend getting the non-generic chinese food. Shredded pork noodle soup, spicy beef tendons, cold sliced beef, fried tofu skin, congee, etc. The generic chinese food is good too though. Their General Tso's chicken is the best around if you're into that.
My only regret is not having enough time to try everything...
