So from the perspective of a Lebanese woman: Life changing Halal truck for Middle Easterners in State college!! I’m from Detroit with family in Dearborn and I haven’t found any food out here that can compare to the amazing dishes I eat back home and make myself. UNTIL NOW! This is the best Halal Truck EVER!! The one on Pugh street is a scammin sham compared to these guys!! They’re tucked in a space on Calder by Cafe Alina and I assure you, you will not regret it. The lamb melts in your mouth, the chicken is so savory, fish is phenomenal, the white sauce is ON POINT, and they make their own homemade hot sauce!! And they’re so nice!! I found this place about a week and a half ago and have been there about seven times since šŸ˜‚ Please check them out!! Seriously. Better than penn kabob, penn pide, totally blows pita cabana out the water, and makes the other trucks look like a joke. I know my Arab food 🤪

I got lamb and falafel over rice with white and hot sauce. I rounded the corner and saw the familiar glow of a halal cart. It’s a little bit hard to find but certainly worth it. I shed a tear. The falafel is crispy and fresh. It has been a while since I have had such good falafel. The salad is delicious and added a great accompaniment to the seasoned rice, falafel, and lamb. Especially for it being 11 at night, the lamb was flavorful and tender. The rice was fragrant and reminds me of home. In other words, the picture cannot describe what the tongue tastes. I see myself coming here at least twice a week. Yusuf says he drives out to New York 3 times per week to restock ingredients. Penn State Halal Guys is truly a local treasure!

The go-to place for me for a quick meal, great and satisfying proportions of meat, tasty sauces and well cooked meat. Please do the combo on pita and Chicken and Lamb platter (ask for the hot sauce).

I was very excited to see that a new food truck was opening downtown so I went out of my way to specifically go to their location and try it. I was very specific that I did not want any hot sauce on my chicken pita. I saw him assembling it, and he used the white bottle a number of times, but at the last moment I saw him grab the red bottle. When he handed me the food I was very worried that he had put hot sauce on it even though I had been very specific no spicy sauce. When I opened the Styrofoam takeout container I was faced with a mess of white smeared with red and he had put the hot sauce on it. I was able to scrape off the lettuce away from the chicken underneath and got off most of it. He put so much sauce on it that the pita fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Thankfully, he had included a fork. The chicken underneath was very good, and I was able to tolerate it because the vast majority of the Red Sauce got scraped off, but it still burned. I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if he had not put the spicy sauce on it, even used less white sauce because it really was a sloppy mess that I could not eat with my hands. So first impression, maybe there was a bit of a language barrier even though I felt I was very clear I didn’t want any spicy sauce. Maybe less sauce on the pita so it doesn’t fall apart when you pick it up. But overall the chicken was very good so I would like to try it again. I’ll wait till they’ve been open for a little bit longer and had a few more customers, and then I’ll try them again in a...
