We were very disappointed with this place. I really feel like I wasted my money on this one. I will list all of the positives and negatives that I thought about this campground. Positives: The campground itself- within it- is nice and clean. The staff with the exception of a few of the ladies at the front desk could not have been any kinder. Some of the ladies at the front were not very friendly at all! The guys on the golf cart- so sweet! They brought us coconut, brought the kids candy and beads- just really nice fellas. They are the reason I give this place 2 stars instead of just 1. With that being said- if you are looking for a relaxing vacation that is a family place, this is not the place for you. This camp ground is 100% centered around snow birds. If you are looking for a long term get a way- with other snow birds for months on end- this is a perfect spot for you. Negatives: the size of the spots could not be any smaller- we literally had to clear the road to get our rig in the spot. The staff was helpful in that- but for 600 a week- I was not happy with the view at all and could literally spit on my neighbor from my camp spot. See attached. I also was not happy with having to leave family activities to move my truck so others could get in. The size of the lots make parking on the road a must and if you leave your camp site w out your truck- you run the risk of being called and tracked down to move it. Next, the views are terrible and really- what other reason do you come to Key West for other than the views?! We paid almost a thousand dollars for the week to look at the back side of a camper on one side of us and our neighbors drying laundry on the other- see picture. The pool closes at dusk- as in as 6:45-7:00 and they show an outdoor movie for the snowbirds. This was not really good for a family w small children as then we either had to leave the pool area or make the kids swim in silence. All activities are geared to the snowbirds rather than families. There was no playground for the kids and no kid friendly or family type activities other than the pool- which again closed before dark. Now- the neighborhoods surrounding the campground- yikes! While we felt safe within bc there is security, when we left- it looked like a 3rd world poverty stricken country all around us. We left via kayak from the campground first. The little boat ramp is small but nice, but there were run down boats anchored in the water and some really nasty dwellings all along the water's shore line. When you leave by foot- same thing. Lots of run down dwellings. You have to be willing to leave this place and drive to the beauty of Key West bc you won't find it at Boyd's. I guess for the price we paid I feel it was not worth it. It provided a place to lay our heads but we were not able to enjoy the keys from our camper. There was no drinking coffee to enjoy the peaceful view in the morning or nice dinners outside by the water. I was constantly having to "hush" the kids bc the neighbors were close and went to bed by 8. Next time, we will stay at the state park in Bahia Honda and not this resort. Again though, if you are a snow bird looking for a "community" rather than a relaxing getaway w family, this may be your spot. If you want a relaxing getaway w lots for the kids to do, this campground will not serve you well.

I recently stayed at this campground near Key West, in a tent with my van. It is a beautiful campground with amenitites not typically available at most campgrounds (I usually stay at state-run campgrounds but the closest one, called "Bahia Honda", is 45 minutes away). Here is the skinny:

Pros: Beautiful campground on the waterfront (see photos) Swimming Pool, Laundryroom, Food Truck Tiki areas with tables, and games More affordable than a hotel They gave me a waterfront tent site as it was the off season Friendly staff

Cons: At $100/night with tax, this is the most expensive campground I have ever stayed at, but still less than a hotel The tent sites are very small and there is no privacy. I was barely able to fit my tent and van in the plot The roosters WILL wake you up early every day (I think they start at around 7:30am) Night 1: Although this is not the fault of the camp, it should be noted that there were many thunderstorms in the summer, and a tent is not a safe place to sleep when there is lightning. I ended up sleeping in my van. Night 2: There was an extremely loud party (maybe 20+ people) going until after midnight, swearing, children screaming, drinking, loud music. This happened in three adjacent fifth wheel rental sites across the path from my tent. The noise continued even after one of my neighbors complained. Then they started shouting "The Neighbors are Bitching!" and continued the party. I had to drink myself to sleep and continued my stay in a nearby airbnb.

Recommendations: There is a special phone number for security that I did not notice. When I called the main line to complain, it rang with no recording or voicemail. One of my neighbors complained to security, but it did not do any good.

I had the unbelievable fortune of finding an airbnb room with a balcony on Duval street for the same price as the tent plot for the remainder of my stay, as this was August and the off season. It may pay to check airbnb before renting a tent site here in the summer months.

Recommendations for management: Have security do a sweep of the park at 11pm, which is misleadingly published as the time that quiet hours are strictly enforced. If the noise continues, issue a second warning in 15 minutes, and if the noise continues after that, evict the party or call the police. Besides myself, three other nearby tent campers were greatly affected.

A hotel room in season that costs $400 may only cost $150 off season. But the variance of tent sites in only $10 or $20. Maybe lower the rates for tent sites in the summer months. It looked like you only had 5% or so occupancy of the tent...

GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN KEY WEST! We visited in early April 23 and camped in a roof top tent. PROS: restrooms were always clean. The staff do an amazing job managing the restrooms and showers. Never dirty or paper products laying around. staff was very helpful. We arrived on a nice sunny day but storms were rolling in and the winds were really picking up. Our site had water views which were excited about. However, with the heavy winds our roof top was not ideal. Staff helped us relocate to another interior site no problems.

The maintenance staff are all over the place. It seems like they ride around a good bit but to keep the place clean and well managed they need to be out on property. The beach area was cleaned of the seaweed daily. camp sites. very clean gravel sites. Each site has a concrete pad and picnic table. We had a full hook up site. There are different site sizes so make sure they know the size of your equipment. Keep in mind if you have a car it needs a place to park. So go big if you are in a big rig. There were no bugs, weeds, etc. laying around. We had heavy rains and winds one night. The staff was out early the next day cleaning up and pumping water from lower areas. Pool area was nice and pool was perfect for cooling off.

CONS: The Campground is in a great location. There are restaurants near by in walking distance. However, you are in some what of an industrial area, welding shops, auto mechanics, boat and dock places. The housing in the area supports the local business with the necessary labor. This is not a campground issue but an Uber issue. It is about $20+ each way to get an Uber from the Campground to downtown. It can add up quick. The trip is roughly 15 minutes to almost anywhere you want to go on Key West. Noise The roosters. If you don't like birds or rooster than you may be a little frustrated. However, while they were around they never really bothered us or our stuff. They are just part of the environment. This is the same with the planes. The Keys are not big so no matter if you downtown, on the beach, kayaking, or at the campground you will hear a plane or two or three or four of five. There is also a Navy base near by so will hear the sounds of freedom every once in while.

if you are looking to camp as close to Key West as possible Boyd's was great and highly recommend it. I watched a couple YouTube videos before going that were a little concerned by some of the comments which we found to false or elevated for the video. Boyd's thank you for a...
