Owner in federal prison and "manager" Casey screaming like a 5 year old at me, "I HOPE YOUR BOAT SINKS!!" These people are SCAM ARTISTS! Do NOT put your boat here. I purchased a sailboat that had been at this yard for a few months. I paid for an extra month of storage before I came down. Everything was in writing and I prepaid for the month. Unfortunately Hurricane Irma (which was only a tropical storm when it was in Key West) came. I made the mistake of leaving my boat here for 4 additional days instead of just pulling it out. I was then charged $500 for 4 days of boat storage when I only paid $600 for storage for the entire previous month. Casey the "manager" and his crew of misfits tried to take advantage of the storm. They tied off a LARGE yacht - at the end of their rickety wood pier - with only one cleat - that somehow was oh so neatly found coiled up ON the deck. Cuz ya know it's totally feasible for the cleat to pull out of the rickety wooden dock - and make it's way into a side port hole and then land - perfectly coiled on the deck. They tried to claim their launch was damaged with the storm and held my boat hostage for an undetermined amount of time until it was fixed. The look on their faces when I went to get my boat the next day and told them it landed at the Perry Hotel Marina, while also taking out several docks, and not floated off to sea as they hoped ... was priceless. This is all on video when liveaboards at Perry tied off the boat in the middle of the night during the tropical storm. When they finally agreed to give me my boat 4 days after rain stopped (what the cluck?!?!) Casey swore belligerently at me along with his lovely secretary calling me every name under the sun. He was SOOOO over the top dramatic I legit thought it was a prank. I'm calmly sitting in a chair asking why it's $500 for 4 days of storage, (when technically I should have been able to get it the next day) not raising my voice, not swearing and BAM wild man goes off. It was soooo exaggerated it was like a bad SNL skit. Best part - I have his tirade on video. Even better - when he insisted the launch was damaged - and yet we launched just fine - he yelled at me, "I HOPE YOUR BOAT SINKS!" Yup - I have that on video, too. Go anywhere but here. If you Google this place - you'll discover that the IRS, FBI, etc raided this place several times and the owner was in...
Read moreI've been in the marine industry for 17 years. Never have I been so misled in my life. We called ahead to get our boat lifted from a trailer for a tournament. When we get there we are notified that our boat is 1/2" too long for their fork lift and we have to be up the f*uck charged to a travel lift. How convenient they let us know the we get there, meanwhile we are within 100% spec (of fork lift weight capacity). Mind you our $300 upcharge was warranted in their mind. Meanwhile Playboy Marine charges $125. Yes one hundred and twenty five dollars and that's with a travel lift not a fork lift. Ok I can see a price increase based on machinery. But I also know when I'm being fully taken advantage of. Topping this off. On the way out to lift our boat back on the trailer I told the the guys where the lift points were so they didn't ruin $3500 worth of airmar transducers. Well they picked it up wrong and then wanted to charge me one more time for an additional lift for a second pick to get their slings out. To the man who was in the golf cart who came over and told them not to charge me a second lift charge I appreciate your reduction in vulture economics. These guys might want to reconsider hostility for hospitality.
If they actually said sorry for the misinformation and said here's our normal price but let's me 1/2 way. I would have been ok. No one wins no one loses. But... because of this, I'll make it a personal point to tell everyone to avoid this place like the place.
If I wanted to let them really know how I felt, I would have an OSHA inspector there...
Read moreI’m torn on this review because I feel like I’d actually give it more of a 3-star review yet I know my family rates it a full 5-stars. Let me explain…
When researching things to do in the Keys, almost everyone said Robbie’s was a must. My husband is an avid fisherman and tarpon have always been one of his favourite fish. So the idea of getting to feed the tarpon thrilled him.
The village-style set up was cute with lots of souvenirs, local artists, photo opps and the restaurant. But when it came time to actually buy a “bucket” of fish to go feed the tarpon, I was shocked to find out not only did we need to pay a $2.50/person “admission” to essentially stand on their dock, the so called “bucket” of fish that was $5 was actually only for SIX small fish. Nowhere had I heard that there was an admission fee nor did I think a bucket of fish meant only six fish.
Now, even with only six fish to feed the tarpon, my family thought this was the coolest thing. We ended up buying a second round a six fish because this experience doesn’t last long if you don’t. In the end, we spent about $25 for about 10 minutes of fun.
So is it worth it? Because my family loved it so much, I’ll say it is. But just be prepared that it’s a short lived experience you’re gonna...
