TL;DR: Good gym, staff sucks.
Had a really bad experience with one of the personal trainers, which unfortunately left a sour taste in my mouth.
Signed up for the complimentary personal trainer workout with Logan, and he informed me of the different plans and prices, and after my hesitation on committing, he asked if a one-on-one training session (which is what I was supposed to get in the first place) would make me subscribe. I told him it'd definitely help me decide whether I think it's worth it.
Logan did an excellent job with the workout, but afterwards became questionably .... aggressive when I told him that I still had to consider it -- primarily due to finances. He kept prying and trying to convince me, which I did not find odd, since of course, he's trying to pitch and sell me a product. Totally normal and expected for an employee. Though, he became extremely personal and would not take my vague answers of not being able to afford it for an answer.
I'm currently unemployed and a college student having to pay tuition, to keep it short. I explained my situation to him and that I'll have to consider subscribing after considering my finances, to which he became extremely abrasive about. Asking me things like "Can you check your tuition online?," "When will you find out how much your tuition was?," and "You don't know how much your tuition was?" when I informed him that it was something I'd have to think about. Extremely abrasive and overly rude -- even for salesman standards.
I've worked in sales and marketing, and I understand get the job of a salesman is to poke, but it was much too far and personal in this circumstance. You do not ask a patron to check how much they have to pay for their next bill right in front of you. Probably the most ridiculous quote was him asking "200 dollars? You really can't make 200 dollars by the end of the summer?" in regards to me stating that the weekly personal trainer plan would add up too much for my budget. Extremely unprofessional and callous.
Afterwards, he moved on to pathos, primarily trying to discreetly cite my health as a reason i need to subscribe. Saying things like "Your money is more important than your health to you?," and "You're considered obese. Do you know what the number one cause of death is in America?" after stating that I feel healthy enough to not necessarily need a personal trainer. Keep in mind, I'm a guy with a relatively average build, and he was specifically citing myself having a high body fat mass, as revealed from the gym's weigh in. This part could be me overthinking things, but it very much so felt like he was trying to gaslight me into believing I am much unhealthier than what I am just to sell a membership. Heck, one of the first things that I told him when we spoke was that my goal is to improve my muscles, and that my overall health is okay.
Even aside from specific prodding and quotes, his tone was EXTREMELY aggressive -- like way more than any normal salesman would possess, he was genuinely angry that I was trying to tell him that I did not want to buy a personal trainer plan right then and there. Dude even refused to shake my hand once he came to the conclusion he could not change my mind.
I went in today and elaborated on the situation and my upset to the manager (or at least one of them.) I admit that there is potential I am at fault for possibly describing the situation and his behavior in a manner that may have confused them, but regardless, the manager shrugged it off with little concern; and merely suggested that his behavior may have been misinterpretation of aggression due to him being a salesman. Didn't care at all. Though, odd, considering other reviews mention Logan too (glasses, brown hair, lean build). Probably used to complaints, but just doesn't care anymore.
Gym and its utilities have been great otherwise, but staff is so-so. Very disappointed in my experience with the staff, and if you are seeking a personal trainer, I'd avoid Logan at all costs, unless you're 100% committed to...
Read moreAll the reviews ... Here we go:
these are suggestions in no particular order...
Fmx tickets for member requests are not working
The data track has problems and cannot ring people out and check them in
Club members barcode scans are not working for amenities and there are complaints and nothing's done to fix those
There are no managers after 4:00 p.m. to handle all the complaints and the influx of so many people and families and children etc etc
The closet inventory door is broken and it cannot close properly and it's open to the public which is a violation
Fake reviews for free t-shirts and giving out t-shirts regardless of a five star review is not ethical moral and it's clearly done with an intent to impress corporate
The morning crew is constantly late and there's a pattern and there's no accountability
Brandon is scapegoating everybody and wanting to fire everybody just to type loose ends so there's no complaints sending that out for failure and is a huge turnover rate and you could talk to them as they've talked to me about the distress much like Elon Musk is doing with the government
Is there issue in fake reviews for free t-shirts and associates are getting bonuses for the fake reviews without their name in it
Most of the scans do not work for amenities like towels... The cryotherapy lounge and the recovery room
Some of the members like the prank call each other using the company phone ~ very very inappropriate 🥲
the night shift always has to pick up all the day shift slack like restocking and doing tell service and do a auditing of all the drinks
In 2 weeks the ratings have gone from the low threes to the middling Forest because of all these fake reviews
That are negative ...
There's no operations manager !
No one communicates with anybody !
They have rotating management WOW !
They're too busy expanding. To know what one hand is doing to the other hand ...

They're so busy trying to correct one another
It rubs off on the customers as being
rude
inconsistent
disrespectful

We're not even talking about the parking situation when it gets really crowded WOW
They also don't have enough cleaning people to handle all the sweat and everything else that's gross (janitor rotates too!)

Updated Review
Most of the team members start to stress and become overwhelmed even though they try to be friendly--it doesn't come off as being hospitable or courteous or professional
I've seen new employees being trained: There's almost a new employee every day who isn't being properly shadowed in order to provide a judgment free support for their training (Planet Fitness mission statement)
It's the blind leading the blind. The kids come in during the peak hours around 4:00 p.m. when all the young people come and the gym becomes really really crowded and there's almost never a manager on shift to help out with the concerns that regular employees cannot handle because they have no authority and responsibility other than the job that they're assigned
The most constant issue though that I've seen also are that club members are not even able to obtain a towel when you have to pay for the said towel service monthly
Ethically morally and with inclusivity and integrity regardless of gender there should always be at least two people on shift and definitely graveyard ship should at least not be one person alone.
These are similar or other types of conversations I've had with staff, front desk, trainers and most importantly gym patrons that I'm sharing with you in order to help out with the Sugar Land location; let's...
Read moreI love this gym, but of course, nothing is perfect in this world. That being said, let's go with the pros and cons. Bear in mind, I have gone to gyms all over Southern California and gyms here in the Houston/Sugar Land area, so that history is the basis for my review. Also, I'm not a bodybuilder, but a former powerlifter, stuntman, and trained in multiple martial arts.
Pros: Lots of equipment, so there is always a way to adjust your workout routine to keep things fresh while maintaining positive muscle confusion. Plus, you can always busy yourself while you wait for a particular machine/space to open up. I love that they have heavy bags available. I'm not looking to become a professional boxer, but I do want to continue to practice technique, form, rhythm, execution, as well as develop better cardio that doesn't require me to obliterate my knees in the process. Having heavy bags allows that, and I'm extremely thankful and grateful to EOS for including them. The fact that they are open 24 hours has been a huge help for me. Sometimes my schedule doesn't allow for me to routinely hit the gym at the same time every day, so again, thank you EOS. Haven't gotten to meet many of the trainers, but David has been super helpful and always wonderful to bump into. Whether he's training someone else or doing his own routine, he always takes the time to say hi, even if it's a touch and go. And I appreciate that, David.
Cons: Almost always busy, no matter what time you go. But that isn't the gym's fault. The massive boom in population is to blame, of course, so I hold no fault with the gym. Not necessarily a huge con unless you have a rigid schedule that allows no adjustment in your day-to-day. The gym bros/gym bunnies. I get it. It's a gym, so it's almost impossible to avoid said types. I've seen people comment in their reviews stating they are bodybuilders, and congrats to you, but the arrogance in these individuals needs to be checked. No one is more deserving than anyone else, and big muscles (whether through supplements or not) doesn't give you the right to act like an entitled fool. Do your best to ignore them. That gets under their skin more than anything. People filming all over the gym rather than using the allotted space. This, again, isn't entirely the gym's fault. People need to be held accountable for their actions. Be better. Stop filming in areas you know you aren't supposed to be filming in and stop throwing tantrums like a child in a grocery store when you're told to stop. Pack mentality. If you've been to a gym before, you know what I mean. Pack mentality is where people gather in clusters to work out, therein blocking off machines or acting like they have a right to claim an entire cluster of machines/weights while none of them are using it. Again, not something I hold the gym accountable for, as people need to be held accountable for their own actions. If you don't enjoy the packs of people, I suggest not going anytime between 4:30p.m.-10:00p.m. Lots of packs that like to run through the gym, but again, people need to face responsibility, and not just toss it on the gym because it's easy.
Overall, I would still absolutely recommend this gym to anyone wanting to work out. Get in there and do the work for you. Don't mind the people who don't matter (the bodybuilders, gym bunnies, and mindless packs) because you are here for you. None of these types will help you in your journey, so remember and pay close attention to those who are welcoming and friendly. There are plenty of them to be found. Keep up the...
